‘Golden Bachelor’ Mel Owens Details His ‘Natural’ Approach to Fantasy Suites

“The Golden Bachelor” Mel Owens has narrowed his choices down to the final two women — Cindy Cullers, 60, and Peg Munson, 62. Before viewers find out who ultimately wins Owens’ heart, they’ll get to watch him get closer than ever to both women during Fantasy Suites Week, which airs on Nov. 5.

In an interview with Bustle, Owens opened up about how he approached Fantasy Suites, which is certainly a crucial week for any Bachelor lead, as they learn more intimate things about their finalists in time to make a decision that will change their lives forever.

On Nov. 5, viewers will get to see Mel Owens open up like never before as he heads into Fantasy Suites Week with his finalists, Cindy Cullers and Peg Munson, during a getaway to Antigua. In a recent interview with Bustle, Owens was asked about his approach going into the week.

“This is how I basically operate in my entire life, all the time: I’m going to let it happen naturally,” Mel said. “I think I have a good gut feeling, intuition, and I’m not one to force things, because I like to have it evolve naturally. And that was my approach,” he added.

While everyone has their own strategy going into Fantasy Suites, fans wonder whether Owens will open up more as he’s been pretty reserved regarding his true feelings for his finalists. In fact, both Cullers and Munson question whether the lead is ready for commitment in the Nov. 5 episode.

But that can change as cameras won’t be allowed during Owens’ private time with both Cullers and Munson.

“I’m not going to overstep my hand. I’m not going to tell somebody something that’s not true, or mislead them. I don’t want that to come back at me. So there wasn’t really a strategy, other than just to be myself and let things happen naturally,” he shared.

Owens Shares His Mindset Going Into the Finale

Mel Owens begins his journey for love with 23 women embodying elegance and strength.

Owens has made it clear during his Bachelor journey that he wants to develop a solid friendship first before throwing out the L-word. Owens prioritizes personal connection over romance, which has made him appear so cautious. So being on a series that practically rushes people falling in love may be difficult for someone like him.

Speaking to Glamour about his mindset in the finale, the former NFL athlete shared, “Well, I tried to leave it to my gut and my instincts, right? You’ve got to like the person before you love them. Because you can love your crazy uncle, right? But if you don’t like him…. You’ve got to like the guy or the gal, right? So I have to really like you first. And then we can get to the other stages. It doesn’t mean that we can’t get there. And maybe sometimes, you’re in love, and you don’t know it. You can’t define it.”

Owens then teased that his finale may shock viewers, sharing, “The fireworks aren’t what you think they are.”

“They’re not what you think they are. You’re going to be amazed. There are so many twists and turns, you’re going to go, ‘What was that all about? How did we get from here to there?” He said.
