The Real Reason Behind Prince Harry’s Return to Britain Involves Princess Diana: Source

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have returned to the U.K., after spending the past few years in Southern California.

Reports have indicated that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex will be remaining in Britain for the foreseeable future, and have enrolled their children — Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet — in a private school outside London.

Many reasons have been floated for the move, ranging from Harry’s attempt to repair the royal rifts between himself and his father, King Charles, and brother, Prince William, to his desire for his children to be educated in Britain. Meanwhile, others have theorized that Duchess Meghan wants to restart her acting career in the U.K., with rumors surging over a potential role in the upcoming third season of Netflix hit “The Gentlemen.”

However, a royal expert has just come forward to offer a new theory behind Harry’s motivation for moving — and explains why William is unlikely to be happy about it.

A Princess Diana TV Project

Appearing on “Palace Confidential,” the Daily Mail’s senior editor-at-large Richard Kay claimed that Harry’s return was sparked by a new television project featuring his later mother, Princess Diana.

‘I am told that one of the reasons Harry’s here is to make a television film, his own film, about his mother,” Kay said, as reported by Mail.

“I know he has been reaching out to his friends and others who knew her, asking them to contribute. That’s going to occupy a lot of his headspace over the next 12 months,” Kay added.

Sibling Rivalry

This, Kay pointed out, will not go over well with Harry’s brother, the future king.

“Of course, it throws up that old canard. People always link Harry to Diana, but she was the mother of two boys. William is just as much his mother’s son as Harry is, and Harry has tried to claim the Diana legacy for himself, to William’s intense frustration,” Kay explained.

“He does not bang on about his mother all the time, though he has at several points,” Kay added. “This issue of trying to use Diana, the Spencer brand, the Spencer name, to divide himself away from the House of Windsor, I think is something we’re going to see even more of.”

For proof, Kay pointed to the trip to England that Harry and Meghan took earlier this summer.

‘Let’s not forget who Harry spent time with when he was here in July,” Kay recalled, “it was Diana’s family at Althorp.”

The End of the Monarchy?

Meanwhile, during another segment in that episode, the Mail’s diary editor Richard Eden claimed his royal sources tell him that Prince William and Princess Catherine are adopting a strategy to ignore the Sussexes entirely.

“Friends of theirs say: why should they do anything differently?” Eden said.

“They are two people who are now private citizens, not working royals. It should make no difference whether they are in California or Britain,” he continued.

“To me, it’s like a spoiled child, if you give in, what do they do? They just demand more,” Eden added. “You have got to be firm with them, or it will lead, I think, to the end of the monarchy.”
