“The Voice” is reportedly aiming for a major milestone moment as it prepares for season 30, with producers working to secure a high-profile lineup that could include a return from Blake Shelton.
According to a report from The U.S. Sun, NBC is willing to spend significantly to bring together a group of familiar coaches for the landmark season. The reported goal is to reunite Shelton with Adam Levine, Gwen Stefani, and Kelly Clarkson for the first time all together on the show.
‘The Voice’ Season 30 Coaches Could Include Blake Shelton Return
A production source told the outlet that producers are focused on creating a standout season to mark the show’s 30th installment.
“For season 30, they want to go big since it will be a milestone year. Though the lineup isn’t finalized yet since filming for 30 won’t start until late Spring/early Summer 2026,” the insider said.
“There’s still time for changes and still all of season 29 to get through.”
The source added that producers have long hoped to reunite Shelton and Levine.
“But the producers are trying to lock in a deal to get Blake and Adam back together, they’ve wanted that for years and think 30 is an opportune time to make it happen,” the insider explained.
The reported lineup would also include Stefani and Clarkson.
“And it would be great to make it a full family affair with Gwen part of it too. Kelly would make the most sense to round out that foursome so that’s the 4th person in talks,” the source said.
“So if producers get their way, 30 will be Adam, Blake, Gwen, and Kelly. Nothing is official yet though.”
The insider noted that securing Shelton and Stefani could require a significant financial commitment.
“The biggest challenge is getting Blake and Gwen back at all, it’s most likely going to cost the show a fortune to make that happen.”
The ‘Ol’ Red’ Singer Previously Addressed a Possible ‘The Voice’ Return
Shelton previously spoke about his future with “The Voice” during an April 2024 interview with E! News, explaining why he stepped away after season 23.
“I did 23 seasons of the show and I enjoyed it,” Shelton said. “And by the time I got to that last season, it was time.”
He added that he wanted to refocus on his music career.
“I needed to get back to what my day job was anyway, which is, you know, being a country singer,” Shelton said.
Shelton also made clear that he still considers himself part of the show’s extended family.
“I don’t mean to sound like I’m not a part of the family anymore,” he said.
“It was the most important years of my life where I was a coach on The Voice. But as far as the job goes, I don’t think I’m ever ready to do that again as I sit here now.”
Blake Shelton Will Always Be Part of ‘The Voice’
Even without serving as a full-time coach, Shelton continues to be part of “The Voice” in unexpected ways.
During an episode in season 28, Michael Bublé joked about his chances of winning again after back-to-back victories.
After Bublé bragged about a potential third consecutive win, Niall Horan responded with a prerecorded clip of Shelton’s voice.
“I don’t give a crap about a three-peat,” Shelton said in the recording.
The moment drew laughter from the audience and coaches. Horan then looked upward and joked, “My father! Is that you?” before replaying the soundbite.
He added, “I miss you dad. I know you’re back there in Oklahoma, harvesting some fields or something.”
The season 29 finale of “The Voice: Battle of the Champions” airs April 14 on NBC.
