Olympic Fan Favorites Expected to Replace Kelly Clarkson Ahead of Show’s End

Olympic figure skating commentators Tara Lipinski and Johnny Weir are set to step in as guest hosts on “The Kelly Clarkson Show.” The duo announced they will host several upcoming episodes as speculation continues about who could take over the program long term.

The update comes after “The Voice” judge confirmed earlier this year that she plans to step away from the show to focus on her family.

Tara Lipinski and Johnny Weir Announce Hosting Role on ‘The Kelly Clarkson Show’

Lipinski and Weir shared the news in a joint Instagram video, revealing they are currently in New York City filming episodes of the show.

“Guess what guys!?” Lipinski said in the video, before Weir added, “We’re in New York because we’re going to be hosting The Kelly Clarkson Show.”

Lipinski continued, “Oh my goodness, we’re doing several shows, we’re so excited, and I’m back with my boy.”

In the caption, the pair wrote, “Big news! We are back together in NYC filming something very exciting- we are hosting several episodes of ‘The Kelly Clarkson Show’!!! dreams dreams dreams, we will keep you posted on air dates!”

Fans quickly responded in the comments, with one writing, “Ok!!! I am so ready!!!” and another adding, “OMG! How fun!!!”

The pair, known for their work as Olympic commentators, have also built a following through television appearances and social media, where each has more than one million followers on Instagram.

Hosting Decision Comes as NBC Considers Long-Term Replacement Options

Lipinski and Weir’s guest-hosting stint comes as NBC continues to evaluate potential long-term replacements for the longtime “The Voice” coach. According to a source cited by The Sun, singer Pink remains a top candidate after previously guest-hosting the show.

“NBC still very much wants Pink. She’s still the frontrunner to land the job but, as most things do, it comes down to money,” the insider said.

The source added, “With Pink, she’d be expensive. Kelly most likely makes just south of $15 million a year from the show alone. Pink wouldn’t be much less.”

According to the same report, Lipinski and Weir were more recent additions to the conversation. “Johnny and Tara came into the conversation much later. They weren’t in the running before a month or so ago. It was a very recent shift,” the source explained.

Their growing popularity, including appearances at the Olympics and making it to the finale of “The Traitors” season 4, contributed to the network’s interest. “When the network saw the goodwill and attention they were getting from the audience from The Traitors and the Olympics, and how dynamic and natural they are together, it was a no-brainer to include them in the conversation,” the insider added.

Clarkson previously announced that “The Kelly Clarkson Show” will end after season 7, with new episodes scheduled through fall 2026. She explained that her decision was tied to prioritizing time with her children, River Rose and Remington Alexander, after relocating to New York City for the show.
