Jinger Duggar Vuolo and Jeremy Vuolo faced every parent’s worst nightmare when their 7-year-old daughter, Felicity, suddenly began crying in pain during a family celebration.
Jinger Duggar Vuolo Reveals Frightening Emergency Room Visit for Daughter
On a new episode of The Jinger and Jeremy Podcast, the couple opened up about the unexpected medical scare that sent them rushing to the emergency room.
“At the end of the wedding, Felicity had been on the dance floor and she was dancing so hard,” Jinger shared. “She comes inside and is in excruciating pain. And mind you, this is our social butterfly.”
Jinger explained that her usually energetic daughter shocked her by asking to go to bed early. “She tells me her ear was hurting and she needed to lay down,” the former “Counting On” star said. “So when she goes to lay down, she can’t because it’s hurting so bad. And she was in so much pain.”
Jinger gave Felicity chewable children’s ibuprofen but said the medication didn’t help. “She tells me, ‘Give me the whole bottle!’” Jinger recalled. “And I was like, ‘She hates medicine.’ That’s how bad it was.”
Jeremy added that his wife’s decision to give their daughter medicine immediately told him it was serious. “I knew when she told me she gave her ibuprofen, I was like, ‘Oh, this is serious if Jinger’s giving her medicine right away,’” he said.

When the pain didn’t subside, Jinger said she sought help from guests at the wedding. “I asked if there was a doctor there who could look at her, but there wasn’t,” she said. “Everyone told me, ‘I think you should take her to the ER because her eardrum may have burst.’”
Before heading to the hospital, Jinger turned to ChatGPT to look up her daughter’s symptoms. The AI advised her to go to the emergency room immediately — advice that likely saved them more stress later.
By the time Jeremy returned home and drove Felicity to the hospital, she began to feel some relief. “As we’re in line getting checked in for the ER, she said, ‘Dad, my ear popped and it feels better,’” Jeremy recalled. “She said, ‘But we should still get it checked out.’”
Doctors confirmed Felicity had an ear infection, but when they suggested antibiotics, Jinger hesitated. “I didn’t want her to have an antibiotic because those can really just mess up your gut,” Jinger explained. “They clear out the good and the bad bacteria.”
After consulting with doctors, the couple decided to wait and see if Felicity improved without medication. Within three days, her pain was completely gone. “She hasn’t had any pain,” Jinger said. “So I texted Audrey Roloff, who is very crunchy, and she told me about these ear drops on Amazon. I ordered them and they seem to be working.”
“It was scary, but she’s doing great now,” Jinger concluded, adding that Felicity has since returned to her usual cheerful self.
