‘Sister Wives’ Captures Kody Brown’s Most Uncomfortable Reunion Yet

The trailer for season 20 of TLC’s “Sister Wives” teases Kody Brown’s attempt to make peace with his ex-wives as the family faces lingering tensions over their future. In the Nov. 2 episode, Kody is seen speaking to both Meri and Janelle Brown via Zoom, a conversation that appears to focus on the long-delayed sale of the family’s Coyote Pass property.

However, the conversation is anything but friendly as both Meri and Janelle give him the cold shoulder. Will the Brown family ever find healing and be able to move on?

In the Nov. 2 episode of “Sister Wives,” Kody Brown attempts to speak with his two ex-wives, Meri Brown and Janelle Brown. While the conversation’s full context isn’t revealed, it appears Kody is hoping to discuss the sale of the family’s Coyote Pass property, a long-standing source of tension between him and his former wives.

In a clip obtained by Us Weekly, Kody receives the silent treatment from both Meri and Janelle, and they keep their answers short when speaking to him.

“Hey, guys, how’s it going?” Kody asks Meri and Janelle, who both reply, “Good.” Kody then asks, “What’s going on? Anything exciting?” Both women take a long pause and shake their heads.

Kody attempts small talk, asking Meri how her bed and breakfast is coming along. “How’s the B&B going? It looks different?” Meri only responds, “It’s the same.” As Meri’s dog, Zona, makes an appearance, Kody calls to her, while Janelle continues to sit there quietly, looking comfortable, and often looks away from her camera.

However, Kody then asks Janelle, “All right, how’s it going, Janelle?” She also gives her ex a short response. “Good. Everything’s good.” When he adds, “Heard any good jokes lately?” She replies, “No. I live with children. They don’t tell any funny jokes.”

When Kody interjects, “I live with children and they tell funny jokes.” Janelle doesn’t seem interested in engaging. She replies, “Mine are younger,” a pointed comment likely referencing her grandchildren, many of whom Kody may not have a relationship with following his strained ties with his adult children.

In a confessional, Kody admits he’s confused by Meri’s coldness towards him. “I don’t know what happened with Meri because I remember helping her move to her place in Parowan, Utah, and she is all fun and games and cordial. Since then to now, it’s weird as … I can’t even say words about how weird it’s gotten.”

Meri shares that things went downhill between her and Kody after he said negative things about her and her friends.

The Brown Family Finally Sold Coyote Pass

Although season 20 continues to show the Brown family’s tension over the Coyote Pass property, The U.S. Sun reported that they had sold the entire land for $1.5 million in April.

As fans recalled, the land was divided between Kody, his remaining wife, Robyn Brown, Meri, and Janelle. Christine Brown handed over her piece of the land to Kody after separating from him in 2021.

After the outlet shared a breakdown of the property earnings, Kody, Robyn, Meri, and Janelle each received $375,000.

In an Oct. 3 episode, Kody promised to distribute the amount evenly among his ex-wives.

“Meri and Janelle need to be paid their fair share of it,” Kody said. “If we exit this relationship with the sale of Coyote Pass, then we’re all free to go on and do something else. Now that we want to sell the property, we’re going to put everybody on the title so that everybody’s titled equally. So when the properties sell, everybody gets paid equally.”
