‘Sister Wives’ Kody Brown Shares His Surprising Plan to Rebuild His Family Bonds

On the Oct. 5 episode of TLC’s “Sister Wives,” Kody Brown opens up about the possibility of repairing his relationship with his children. Over the years, his bond with many of his adult children has become increasingly strained, especially following the end of his three marriages to Meri Brown, Christine Brown Woolley, and Janelle Brown.

In season 20, viewers watch as Kody begins exploring ways to rebuild the fractured relationships with his children. But, is his plan going to work?

Kody Brown Opens Up About Wanting a Fresh Start

Kody Brown wants a fresh start and believes that relocating his family, including his wife, Robyn Brown, and their children, from their home in Flagstaff, Arizona, could be the right answer.

In the Oct. 5 episode of “Sister Wives,” Kody shares with Robyn that he could experience significant healing if they were to change their scenery.

While speaking to Robyn about the Coyote Pass property, he tells her, “I get to be really honest with you, I really want to move away from here. This house. This house is the source of a lot of pain for me.”

Going into more detail, he shares with Robyn, “As much as I love this house, the idea of a new start is really enticing for me. It has turned out to be kind of a lonely place for me.” He adds that out of the five years they have lived on the property, four of those years have been “a struggle.” This includes Kody’s three divorces and the death of his son, Garrison Brown.

Although Robyn has some hesitation, she believes that moving could also help rekindle Kody’s relationships with his adult children in a way. Robyn wants to see Kody repair his relationships, and the couple believes that buying a bigger property might encourage more family visits.

“It’s really important for Kody to repair his relationships with his kids,” Robyn shares in a confessional. “It really is the thought, if we have space, they will come.”

But can a new address really fix old wounds?

Meri Brown Goes Speed Dating

During a lighter moment in the episode, viewers watched as Meri Brown opens her heart again while going speed dating.

Meri embraced the experience with an open mind, but some of her matches realized who she was, even poking fun at polygamy.

“I guess you’re the house celebrity, huh?” A man named Lee begins their conversation. As they discuss their previous marriages, with Meri sharing that it’s now been two years since she was divorced, Lee makes a joke at her former polygamous lifestyle when discussing his past.

“Married twice, only one at a time,” he shares.

Clearly, this rubbed Meri the wrong way, who shared in a confessional, “I don’t like dumb jokes. I mean, I’m a funny person … I mean, a dumb joke has to be a good dumb joke if it’s going to be a good dumb joke. And it has to actually be a joke, not something that has to do with my family structure.”

However, when Meri meets a man named Ron, they seem to click instantly. In a confessional, Ron shared that he enjoyed his short conversation with Meri.
