‘Meet the Putmans’ Star Recalls Final Moments Before His Beloved Family Members Passed Away

The Putman family from TLC’s show, “Meet the Putmans,” lost three of their loved ones after a horrific car crash on September 26, 2025. Earlier in the day, the three brothers, Blake, Billy, and Brandon Putman, and their families, had been at a football game to support Blake’s teenage son, Noah. On their way back home, a semi-truck crashed into Blake’s car, which was transporting eight family members.

Blake and Brandon are bravely opening up about their loss and recalling the last moments they had with their loved ones.

Blake Putman Shares Details of Horrific Crash

The accident killed three of the Putman family’s loved ones: the brothers’ parents, “Papa” Bill Putman and “Neenee” Barb Putman, and Blake’s wife, Megan. His children were hurt, but all survived.

In an interview with People published on March 13, Blake reflected on that day and on how lucky he is to be alive. “He hit my door, and how God allowed me to be where I am today, I’m not really sure,” he said. “I remember the entire thing. I remember the car hitting us, I remember being on the road, I remember a lot of scenes inside the vehicle.”

Blake also shared his heartbreaking final memories of his loved ones. “Megan had her arms around me when he hit us, and my dad was sleeping,” he recalled. “My mom and dad and Megan, they died on the scene. The autopsy said that they were immediately gone. There was no saving them.”

Brandon & Kacie Putman Witnessed the Accident

Brandon and his wife, Kacie, witnessed the accident and helped their family members at the scene. Katie recalled that her priority at that moment was the kids’ well-being, and she prayed to God for their lives. “He did that. He saved every one of our kids,” she said.

“I remember pulling Noah out of the car, and I didn’t think he’d be the same as he is,” Brandon told People. “The way he’s bounced back and is stronger in almost every facet than he was before in a short amount of time is amazing. Gia, the same thing.” The children had a range of injuries, including a pelvic fracture and a clavicle fracture, and Noah and Gia both had traumatic brain injuries

Gia almost died, having to be airlifted to the hospital, where she underwent emergency surgery. “If she would’ve went by ambulance, she wouldn’t have made it,” Brandon said. “Her spleen went through her diaphragm and up into the left side of her chest. She broke her clavicle and broke her left humerus, which is not very funny — I got to throw a little bit of dad jokes in there — but it’s a miracle.” Gia has since had multiple brain surgeries and is learning to talk again. Her family is all rooting for her and her recovery.

The Putmans Continue to Support Each Other

The Putmans are a close-knit family, and they have rallied around each other during this challenging time, stepping up to help one another despite their hurt. Brandon shared that the emotional toll of the accident runs deep, but that everyone is there to show support, whenever needed and in whatever ways they can.

“This family, we circle each other, and when one person’s weak, we pick them up,” he said. “God bless my dad for having the vision to bring us together like that and to teach us these principles to live by.”
