The “1000-Lb. Sisters” season 8 finale debuted on TLC on March 10. Throughout the entire season, viewers saw sisters Tammy Slaton and Amy Halterman at odds with one another.
What does the relationship between the sisters look like today?
The “1000-Lb. Sisters” Stars Weren’t on Great Terms All Season
Amy Halterman shocked her family members and fans alike when she announced she had chosen a friend as her maid of honor, not Tammy. Even though the sisters were embroiled in a bitter feud, everyone assumed they would put aside the harsh feelings for the sake of the special day.
In fact, Tammy wasn’t even asked to be in the wedding at all. Amy asked Misty and Brittany to be bridesmaids, but opted not to include Tammy. The entire situation added to the mounting drama, leaving Tammy unsure if she wanted to attend her sister’s wedding at all.
In a scene with her mother, Darlene, Tammy revealed that she RSVPed “yes” to the wedding, but wasn’t sure if Amy truly wanted her in attendance. Darlene encouraged Tammy to attend, but the TLC star admitted she was still considering her options.
The Sisters Put Their Feud to Rest
During the season 8 finale, Tammy approached Amy before the ceremony.
“I’m sorry. And I’m wanting to prove to you that I’m here to support you. I accept this, like, you and Brian coming as one,” Tammy tells her younger sister, adding that she accepts Amy for who she is. “And I got you this, your ‘something new’ and your ‘something blue.'”
Tammy then reveals the bracelet she purchased for Amy earlier in the season. Amy tells her sister how much she likes the bracelet before asking Tammy to put it on her wrist for her.
“I am getting [emotional] right now because I’m kind of overwhelmed that she apologized and owned the fact that she was wrong,” Amy tells the cameras in a confessional. “I didn’t even know that she knew the word. But Tammy’s support means so much to me right now.”
Back at the wedding venue, Tammy tells Amy how much she wants to put their fight behind them and truly move on.
“Today’s a new chapter, a new beginning of your life,” Tammy continues. “I don’t want no more fighting, I want to squash everything, just move past it. Let’s bury it, let’s move on.”
Amy wipes tears from her eyes, agreeing that Tammy’s plan sounds great.
Where Do the TLC Stars Stand Now?
Tammy hasn’t been very active on social media lately while Amy has primarily posted about her wedding. It’s tough to say where exactly the sisters stand as of early 2026. However, they have made a few public appearances together at fan meet and greets.
Viewers know that squabbling will always be a core component of the show. But at the end of the day, they hope Tammy and Amy can truly put aside their differences and maintain their strong familial bond.
Fans hope to see Tammy, Amy, and the rest of the “1000-Lb. Sisters” cast return to TLC later this year.
