On the latest season of TLC’s “1000-Lb. Sisters,” fans have seen Amy Halterman go through a rollercoaster of emotions. Between fighting with her siblings and falling in love again, she’s had many major moments.
Fans loved seeing Amy marry the love of her life during the season 8 finale. They want her to live happily ever after, but have concerns about one key factor.
Amy Halterman Discusses Changing Her Name
Amy married Michael Halterman during “1000-Lb. Sisters” season 1 and took his last name. From then on, fans have always known her as “Amy Halterman.”
But now that she’s officially married to Brian Lovvorn, fans have asked whether she plans to change her name again. After all, her marriage to Michael ended rather tumultuously. Some have noted it seems odd that she would want to continue using his surname.
After seeing all the comments and concerns from fans, Amy decided to address the situation head-on.
“Y’all, I’ve seen a few questions about my last name on social media, so I just wanted to clear something up,” Amy shared with fans on her public Facebook page. “Right now I still use Halterman online because that’s the name fans have known me by for years from the show and social media. It just makes things easier for people to find me and know it’s really me.“
“But in real life, things are a little different — and that’s okay,” the TLC star continued. “It’s 2026, and people have the right to choose what name feels right for them in their own life. Everyone’s situation and journey is different. I will be changing things later, but for now I’m keeping the name on social media so fans don’t get confused.”
Amy concluded the post by thanking her fans and supporters, regardless of which surname she uses. She wants everyone to know she hasn’t changed at all, no matter what.
The TLC star’s Instagram handle is “amyslaton_halterman,” but she did change her bio to read “Amy Lovvorn.”
The Sisters Finally Put Their Feud to Rest
Although Tammy Slaton and Amy Halterman had been close for years, fans saw their relationship fracture during season 8. Bickering was always a core component of the show, but the sisters always managed to put aside their differences.
During season 8, it wasn’t until the last moment that Tammy and Amy mended fences. After much speculation that Tammy wouldn’t attend the wedding, the TLC star surprised everyone when she apologized to Amy for all the harmful words exchanged on the morning of the big day.
If “1000-Lb. Sisters” returns to TLC for another season, fans are excited to see the sisters on better terms.
