In the months leading up to her death at age 71, Catherine O’Hara continued to quietly celebrate creativity, community and the work she loved — making a handful of rare but meaningful public appearances that now stand as a reflection of her enduring grace and lifelong dedication to the arts.

The beloved actress, known for her iconic roles in “Schitt’s Creek,” “Home Alone,” “Beetlejuice” and countless other projects, largely kept a low profile in recent years.

Still, she stepped out selectively for events that mattered to her, often alongside her husband of more than three decades, production designer Bo Welch.

Her Last Photographed Event

One of O’Hara’s final public outings came in October 2025, when she attended Project Angel Food’s gala in Los Angeles, according to the Daily Mail.

Dressed in classic green pinstriped suit and smiling warmly for photographers, O’Hara embodied the understated elegance fans had long admired.

The appearance was consistent with her long-standing preference for meaningful moments over constant red carpet exposure — a choice she embraced throughout her career.

In one image, she appeared seated next to Welch with their auction paddle boards.

The event was to raise money for Project Angel Food, which makes meals for those being impacted by severe illnesses. In addition the event raised money for Upward Bound House, which aids homeless families with finding shelter.

O’Hara Was Last Seen Just Weeks Before Her Passing

On Jan. 13, 2026, O’Hara reportedly was also seen at a small, intimate gathering connected to the creative community she remained deeply involved in until the end, according to the Daily Mail.

She made a brief appearance at Lisa Vanderpump’s SUR restaurant in Los Angeles for the event.

According to those in attendance, she appeared engaged, upbeat and appreciative of the opportunity to reconnect with colleagues and friends.

“As quickly as she was seen, she left, but she looked healthy for a 71 year old,” the source stated.

While she avoided the spotlight, her presence alone carried weight, reminding those around her of the impact she had made across decades of film, television and theater.

O’Hara’s selective appearances reflected her personality: thoughtful, private and deeply intentional.

In the wake of her passing, tributes from across Hollywood have underscored that legacy.

Co-stars, directors and younger actors alike have described O’Hara as generous, kind and endlessly supportive — someone who uplifted those around her both on and off set.

Many have noted that even in her final months, she remained passionate about storytelling and collaboration.
