We had a special night on “American Idol” season 24 tonight on ABC. We had the Class of 2006 Reunion, as some familiar faces from 2006 returned to the stage to celebrate their 20th anniversary. They would be performing duets with the Top 5 on “American Idol” 2026. Braden Rumfelt was one of those Top 5 singers, and he hit the stage for a duet with Paris Bennett on “American Idol” 2026 tonight. Class of 2006 Reunion Performance
Braden is singing with Paris Bennett. They will be performing “The Show Must Go On” by Queen, which she performed during her season. This one was a weird one to me. I feel he sounds a little off to me. I feel like they want to make him a rocker, but he isn’t. She sounded amazing. They ended on a huge note together.
For the judges, Luke said the Idol alums are bringing it out for our new hopefuls. Lionel said they killed it. Paula said she just saw a different Braden. They are bringing out new sides of themselves. Carrie said she wished they had had this night earlier in the competition, as it would have catapulted them even further.
Last Week’s Taylor Swift Performance
For his Taylor Swift performance, he sang “cardigan” while wearing a cardigan sweater. This was the last Taylor song of the night, and I think we may have ended it with one of the best performances of the night. Braden had been a little off for me the last few weeks, but this was a great song choice and a great performance. I loved it.
For the judges, Nikki said he was in the pocket. He ate that song; it was so good. He took me on a journey. It was really beautiful. Luke said that’s like my favorite thing he’s done so far. You took me on the emotional journey of that song, and I loved it. Lionel said he kept thinking this guy is in the pocket. You put your foot right in, and he stayed in it. The story you were telling, I believed it. Carrie said he seemed to be comfortable in it. It’s one of her favorite things he’s done.
Last Week’s California Song Performance on ‘American Idol’
For his second performance last week, he sang “This Love” by Maroon 5. This one started a little rough for me, and I was worried. Like, he did so well on that first performance, but then he failed on this one. However, as the song went on, he kicked it in and was having fun up there. He doesn’t have that rocker voice, but he’s showing off some range on this one.
For the judges, Nikki said he owned that. He made it look so cool, and he looked cool. She loved the whole thing. Luke said great job. Lionel said pink, the boots, the look, you took it out of the mic stand, you gave us the ugly face. That’s what we want. Carrie said it was such a great moment for him. You looked like a rock star. She’s never seen him more comfortable up there.
