Former “American Idol” judge Jennifer Lopez is celebrating a bittersweet milestone as her twins prepare to leave home for college. At the same time, a recent college announcement involving one of her children has sparked online discussion after the 18-year-old appeared to be identified using a different name while revealing which college they will attend this fall.
A New Name for Emme
It appears that Lopez’s child, Emme, is now going by a new name.
The details were shared by an Instagram account dedicated to documenting the college decisions of graduating Windward seniors. In a post from March, one of the students was identified as “Oskar Muñiz,” who would be attending Sarah Lawrence College in the fall.
In the post, a childhood photo can be seen along with Oskar’s plans to study theater and studio arts at Sarah Lawrence College. The post also tagged an Instagram account, which appears to belong to Lopez and Marc Anthony’s child.
The post is captioned, “Oskar to Sarah Lawrence! No more impromptu NYC trips because he’ll be living there! Good thing it’s only a few hours away from Stagedoor. Go gryphons!! Congrats!!!”
When looking at that Instagram profile tagged, it features a picture of the high school graduate with the name Oskar. The description in the bio features “⚣” and “⚧︎ symbols, along with the name of their future college.
Another thing to point out is that the post was “liked” by Jennifer Garner, who was previously married to Lopez’s ex-husband Ben Affleck. Garner and Affleck share three children.
Twins Are Moving Out
The “On the Floor” singer, 56, has not publicly addressed this news of an apparent name change. Earlier this week, she attended Emme’s graduation ceremony alongside her mother, Guadalupe Rodríguez, and Affleck’s son, Samuel.
However, Anthony, 57, did not appear to be present at the graduation. Lopez shares twins Max and Emme with Anthony, whom she was married to from 2004 to 2014.
Lopez did get emotional when talking about the twins’ recent high school graduations and their plans to attend different colleges.
During an appearance on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!,” Jennifer said, “Don’t talk about it because [I] start crying.” She went on to admit that she has been “crying for two months” as the twins prepare to leave home.
She did go on to say that the twins would be going to different colleges. This is a choice she is “fine” with since she wants “them to be happy and go where they want to go and do what they want to do.”
New Bachelorette Pad for JLo
The timing might be perfect, as Lopez gave her fans a sneak peek at her new pink-and-white bachelorette pad this week.
After months of renovations, the singer debuted her own “Barbie dreamhouse” on Instagram over the holiday weekend. While she may be an empty nester soon, there will be plenty of room at the bachelorette pad if the kids want to visit.
The estate is located in the Hidden Hills neighborhood and features five bedrooms and eight bathrooms on 2.5 acres of land. Plenty of room for her and the twins.
