During Season 33 of “Dancing With the Stars,” Ezra Sosa and Anna Delvey were the first team to be eliminated. In Season 34, he and Olympian Jordan Chiles made it all the way to the finals, finishing third. While appearing on “The Squeeze” podcast, Sosa got real about the pressure he felt coming into his second season on the show.
“I was trying to prove myself, not just to my peers, but to everyone back at home,” Sosa revealed. “‘Cause everyone just knew me for my personality, but not really for my ability to dance. Which is kind of wild.”
Ezra Sosa Wants DWTS Audiences to See More Than TikTok Skills
Sosa first joined “Dancing With the Stars” in Season 30. He became familiar to audiences as a member of the dance troupe and a dancer in couples’ routines. By Season 32, he wowed viewers with his cha-cha skills after filling in for Artem Chigvintsev, who tested positive for COVID-19. The following season, he was officially welcomed as the show’s first Latino professional dancer since Fabian Sanchez appeared in 2008.
Sosa praised his pairing with Delvey to TV Insider in 2024, saying that he was “very excited she’s my partner.” However, he was clearly disappointed that their time on the show was so short-lived, noting that “you didn’t really get to see my choreographic ability, you didn’t get to see her progression as a dancer.”
Adding fuel to his determination were the comments he got from fans while on the “Dancing With the Stars” tour. While Daniella Karagach was commended on her dance skills, he received compliments of another kind.
“They would come up to me, and they’d be like, ‘I love your TikToks. I love your social media,” he recalled. “Which is awesome, but that’s not my love, that’s not my passion.”
Good Vibes & Hard Work: Inside Sosa and Jordan Chiles’ Winning Partnership Dynamic
Prior to Season 34’s casting news, Sosa had begun hearing from the producers and casting that he would be “getting a good partner,” so they could “really see what you can do.” When he found out it was Chiles, he was thrilled. He even posted a TikTok of the two of them with the caption, “pov: I actually have a shot this year.”
“She’ll lock in,” he said about Chiles. “She puts in the work, but she emphasizes always having a good time, and always having good energy and good vibes.”
“She really was the best at bringing out my best self and making sure that I felt 100%,” he added.
