Bobby Bones competed on “Dancing with the Stars” Season 27 in 2018. Despite not being the most talented dancer on the show, he won the Mirrorball Trophy thanks to the incredible support of his fans and for giving the ABC dance competition his best effort. Bones is a likable guy. However, his win alongside professional dance partner Sharna Burgess has been somewhat controversial.
Tom Bergeron Makes a Sweet Offer
In an interview with Parade, beloved former DWTS host Tom Bergeron was asked what had “shocked” him the most during his time on the show, and he responded that the event that shocked him the most was Bones’ win. The comments upset Bones, who responded with a TikTok video. “This was hurtful,” Bones said. “And not because of what was said, but really who said it.” He also claimed he would be returning his Trophy.
Not wanting to cause Bones hurt, Bergeron issued a public apology on Instagram on November 12. In his message, he wrote, “I was doing so many interviews leading up to the [DWTS 20th anniversary], I was bound to say something inelegantly. Sorry, Bobby. Sometimes I should fall back on my mime training.”
The post’s comment section was flooded with reactions, some of which Bergeron responded to. It was in one of these comments that he made a brilliant offer to ensure that Bones and his Mirrorball Trophy find their way back to each other.

In the comment section, fans have shown their support for Bergeron, sharing that what he said was not said with malice. “Tom. You spoke on something that everyone has been talking about. BUT Bobby’s win and Andy’s progress through the weeks shows that this show is about the public view,” a comment reads. “It’s about who is likable. I’m sad that he felt the need to send his trophy back, but i also understand that he’s been talked about poorly since his win.”
The comment attracted attention from fans, was liked over 400 times, and prompted Bergeron to respond. “I’d like to offer to personally return his trophy to him. On my dime,” he wrote.
