Chef Bobby Flay Answers Fans’ Burning Culinary Thanksgiving Questions

With Thanksgiving just over two weeks away (Thursday, November 27, people!), Bobby Flay has taken to social media to answer some burning culinary questions fans have about cooking for their friends and families on the big day.

As well as being a celebrity chef and a Food Network star of 30 years, Flay, 60, is a food writer, restaurateur, and the owner and executive chef of several major restaurants and franchises, including Bobby’s Burger Palace, Bobby’s Burgers, and Amalfi. It is, therefore, worth taking note of his undeniable expertise when it’s offered.

Bobby Flay ‘To the Rescue!’

Bobby Flay posted a 33-second video to his Instagram account — where he has a whopping 2,000,000 followers — to answer four fan questions that could help countless people cooking Thanksgiving dinner. The video was captioned, “Thanksgiving 911🚨 @bobbyflay to the rescue!”

The first question was, “What do I do if the gravy is too lumpy?” Flay’s response was a simple one, whereby he suggested putting lumpy gravy in a food processor and adding more chicken broth to thin it out.

Question two posed the opposing query, “What do I do if the gravy is too thin?” This time, Flay suggested putting it in a saucepan on top of the stove and bringing it to the boil so it reduces in concentration.

Next came the question, “What’s your secret for creamy, smooth mashed potatoes?” Flay answered by saying he puts the potatoes in the oven after boiling them to dry them out, so they’re not waterlogged.

Finally, Flay was asked, “Stuffing vs. Dressing?” He replied that he makes dressing, not stuffing, for two reasons. The first reason is that it’s outside the bird, so he can control it in terms of how long he needs to cook it. The second reason is that, when he cooks it, it gets a really nice crust on the outside and, therefore, a really good contrast.

We’re sure you’ll agree, those are brilliant tips!
