Gordon Ramsay might be privy to the rising temperatures of a kitchen, but when it comes to his three daughters, he admitted he is a blubbering mess!
During an appearance on the hit U.K. talk show “This Morning” on Monday, Jan. 5, the famed chef and his youngest daughter, Matilda “Tilly” Ramsay, reminisced over Holly Ramsay’s recent wedding to Olympic swimmer Adam Peaty.
When discussing his experience in giving the father-of-the-bride speech, Ramsay admitted he barely made it through the emotional moment.
‘It Was Just a Tough Gig’
“It’s tough, honestly — I mean, being a dad with three daughters, you dream of that moment. That moment arrives, and you’re just like a hot mess,” he said. “The speech was perfect. It went well. You got to find that sort of — you’ve got to be warm, emotional… It was just a tough gig.”
Fortunately, the famed chef had a little help in making sure his speech for Holly was just right, as Tilly said she spent time with him days before the special day to go over its final touches.
Despite spending an hour with her dad on Christmas Eve rehearsing word by word, Tilly shared with hosts Cat Deelay and Ben Shepard that “no tweaks were needed,” adding, “It was perfect. It made everybody cry.”
Gordon Ramsay Shares Reaction to Holly Wearing Her Mom’s Wedding Dress
Holly’s decision to wear her mom Tana Ramsay’s original wedding gown surely contributed to the emotion Ramsay felt as well, as he admitted seeing her in the dress was “a bit of a shock.”
He then joked about Holly’s multiple outfit changes throughout her wedding day. “I don’t know why you need to change three times,” he said, prompting a laugh from Tilly, who said she would be honored to wear her mom’s dress when she gets married.
As the first of Ramsay’s six children to tie the knot, Tilly added how the entire experience was overwhelming for their whole family. “It was so emotional, you know, to see her and Adam so happy,” she explained, adding that it was “a big day for all of us.”
Days after Holly and Adam’s wedding, which was held at The Abbey Church of Saint Peter and Saint Paul in Bath, England, on Dec. 27, a report from British Vogue detailed the humor Holly found in her dad’s emotions.
“Dad cries every time I talk about the wedding,” the 26-year-old shared. “The other day I was asking him which car he and I would take to the church, and he welled up immediately.”
