Food Network star Guy Fieri shared a rare health update after falling down the stairs on the set of his new show, “Flavortown Food Fight.”
Guy Fieri Shares Health Update After On-Set Accident
Fieri previously revealed that his Thanksgiving plans were ruined after suffering a devastating injury from falling down the stairs, which forced him to skip his Guy Fieri’s Foundation annual Thanksgiving event.
“I wasn’t even there this year because I had a small injury,” he said during an appearance on San Diego Magazine’s “Happy Half Hour” podcast. “Creating the foundation and getting that up to the level that it’s at and we’re just getting started. We’ve been doing this for about 10 years. But this next 25, 30 years, this will be something that will live on in perpetuity.”
He added, “I’ll be dead, and this foundation will have its own money, its own trajectory.”
“That’s the most fulfilling thing in my career without question.”
Fieri bragged about his wife being a his ultimate cheerleader.
“Lori is the most stand-by-your-man woman you can have!” he said.
Fieri first revealed his gruesome injury in November, telling Fox News Digital, “[I] slipped down a set of steps and one foot went forward and the other foot got caught on the threshold.”
“So, you know, it extended me out. I looked like I was probably doing the splits, but when my right leg compressed into itself, the giveaway point, and the doctor said he’s never seen — you know, in 20 years — he hasn’t seen a tear in the biggest, thickest part of your quad in half. Yeah, it sucked,” the “Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives” host added.
He was rushed to surgery, which left him wheelchair bound.
“You normally tear that muscle at your tendon or the tendon tears off the bone, but this was right in the center of the whole quad muscle, and it exploded,” he continued.
Guy Fieri Detailed His Recovery Process
Fieri told Fox News Digital he would be off his feet for nearly two months as he recovered from surgery.
“Eight weeks of no weight on it, crutches and a cast, and then the rehab, which to me – I want to get after it as fast as possible,” he told the outlet. “He’s like, ‘You know as much as you want to, get back to being Guy, you’re going to really have to go through [it].'”
