Great American Family star Cameron Mathison took to social media to discuss health and wellness, but fans were, understandably, a bit distracted by the shirtless snaps he also included.
In February, the soap opera star shared a health update with fans after undergoing testing six years after battling renal cell carcinoma, a type of kidney cancer, that he was diagnosed with in 2019. He revealed that the tests came back clear and that his kidney functions were actually “even better” and had improved since the previous year. “Six years cancer free. Super grateful,” Mathison said at the end of his video.
The former “Dancing with the Stars” contestant has been vulnerable online about his health journey a number of times. In 2025, Mathison also shared how his health issues eventually led him to becoming a functional health coach and starting a functional health coaching company of his own.
Mathison Discusses Health & Wellness Under Pre & Post-Gym Snaps
“Before and after gym pump. You have to guess which is which,” the actor joked in the caption of his April 1 Instagram post, which included two shirtless photos of him standing in front of the mirror. “The bed might give it away,” he added, referring to the fact that his bed was only made in one of the photos.
He continued, “Coming off two 24 hour fasts back to back (I broke my fast and ate 2 hours before lifting weights).”
The actor explained that he didn’t fast for weight loss, but instead for “autophogy, improved digestion, inflammation reduction, insulin sensitivity, energy, and overall health, wellness, and longevity.”
Fans were buzzing in the comment section:
“Can’t get over how amazing he looks here 🔥🔥”
“Looking amazing Cameron👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏🔥”
“Super freaking beast! Non aging greatness 👏”
“Awesome !!! You are definitely on a higher level!!! ❤️❤️❤️🙌🙌🙌🙌”
At the end of Mathison’s caption, he included the link to his website, Health360, the functional health coaching company he started in 2025.
Mathison’s Health Journey Inspired His Want to Become a Health Coach
In an Instagram post from August 2025, Mathison shared his reasoning behind becoming a functional health coach and starting Health360.
“I was actually born with a degenerative bone disease, couldn’t walk and considered disabled until I was seven,” he wrote in the caption of his post. “That drove me to try and make up for it somehow…chase physical greatness — often in some pretty unhealthy ways. When I got into the entertainment world, I became a guy known for being in shape…”
He continued, “But behind the scenes, I was struggling — extreme workouts, extreme diets, processed foods…it would work for a while… until it didn’t. I’d rebound, try again, and get lesser results each time.”
Mathison faced the repercussions of this, explaining that he suffered with various health issues like inflammation, his cortisol being “through the roof,” and his hormones “out of whack.” Despite the fact that he went to various doctors, he wrote that “nothing stuck,” and there were “no lasting results.”
That is, until he met Allen Cress, a functional health coach. “He helped me reset everything: my digestion, hormones, sleep, inflammation, mindset, put muscle on for the first time in years, and lost that stubborn belly fat. And most importantly, I started truly healing,” Mathison wrote.
This was just the beginning of his journey to recovery, which eventually inspired him to start Health360.
Mathison concluded his post with an uplifting message to his fans, “I’ve lived it. I’ve studied it. And now I’m here to help you.”
Fans expressed their gratitude for his openness. One fan wrote, “You are so inspirational! Thanks so much for sharing that! I want to try it! Thanks so much Cam for sharing and caring! ❤️🙌”
“Love all of this! Challenges help us become the best version of ourselves..your story proves it! You are very inspirational Cameron! ❤️❤️❤️” another added.
