Rebecca Gayheart was photographed for the first time since the death of her husband, Eric Dane, who died at 53 following a battle with ALS.
The actress, 54, was seen visiting the Los Angeles home where Dane had been living at the time of his death, according to images obtained by the Daily Mail.
She was dressed in a beige trench coat and wearing glasses and had her hair pulled back.
A GoFundMe Has Been Launched Since Dane’s Passing
Friends of the late actor have also launched a GoFundMe campaign for the couple’s daughters, Billie Beatrice, 15, and Georgia Geraldine, 13, in the wake of his passing.
Dane’s death was announced less than a year after he revealed his ALS diagnosis.
The actor, known for playing Dr. Mark Sloan on “Grey’s Anatomy,” had been open about his illness and remained surrounded by loved ones in his final days.
In a statement shared with People, the family said, “With heavy hearts, we share that Eric Dane passed on Thursday afternoon following a courageous battle with ALS. He spent his final days surrounded by dear friends, his devoted wife, and his two beautiful daughters, Billie and Georgia, who were the center of his world.”
It concluded with the family asking for privacy.
Gayheart Previously Spoke About Supporting Dane
Months before Dane’s death, Gayheart spoke candidly about standing by him during his illness. Appearing on “Broad Ideas with Rachel Bilson and Olivia Allen” in November 2025, she explained her focus was on family unity.
“We show up for people no matter what. He is our family. He is your father,” she said of Dane while discussing their daughters. “We will get through it the best we can.”
Though their relationship had been “super complicated” after years of separation, Gayheart admitted she was simply trying to do what was best for their children.
“I don’t know if I’m doing it well or if I’m doing it the wrong way or the right way,” she said. “I’m just showing up and trying to be there for them.”
She also shared her goal was to ensure their daughters never regretted lost time with their father. “I just want to make sure I provide them with the opportunity to spend time with him so that they don’t ever look back and go, ‘I wish I would have spent some time with my dad.’”
Gayheart and Dane married in 2004 after meeting in 2003. She filed for divorce in 2018, but withdrew the petition in 2025 after his ALS diagnosis.
They remained married until his death, prioritizing their family during what Gayheart called an “uncharted” chapter.

wow… When it comes to someone dying from a heartbreaking disease, this is what you choose to focus on? Didn’t your parents teach you if you have nothing nice to say, keep it to yourself? your comment is cold hearted and read the freaking room. Your comment should be on a different site, not one that is focused on the man’s death
