One cast member of Hallmark’s “When Calls the Heart” was ready to celebrate after the latest episode. Billy Christos, Jr., who plays Toby, couldn’t resist a little dance as he expressed the joy he felt about the latest developments for his character.
Toby Was Cleared & His Last Name Was Finally Revealed
After episode 6 of “When Calls the Heart” season 13 aired on Saturday, February 7, Christos shared his joy via a new Instagram post. Hearties got quite a kick out of it.
Christos chose the Billy Joel song “We Didn’t Start the Fire” to accompany his post, and it was the perfect pick. In the caption of his post, Christos wrote, “Exonerated! Not Guilty! Free!”
The caption continued, “KOVALENKO! My last name!”
The young actor also added a handful of hashtags to the caption of his post. One signaled his character’s full name, Toby Kovalenko.
The short video clip posted on Instagram showed Christos dressed as Toby, standing on the front steps of one of the buildings in Hope Valley.
Text added to the video read, “When you find out you didn’t start the fire and your character gets a last name, all in one scene.”
Christos smiled widely as he did an arm pump and celebratory finger pointing.
‘When Calls the Heart’ Fans Were Thrilled for Both Christos & Toby
Miles Marthaller, who had roles in Hallmark’s “Three Wisest Men” and “The Chicken Sisters,” commented with a string of cry-laughing emojis.
Remy Marthaller, who played Sarah Wolf on “When Calls the Heart” and is the older sister of Miles, added a comment that consisted of several fire emojis and one cry-laughing icon.
A fan noted that there was another big Toby-related development in season 13. “A mom and a last name this season! Toby is winning!”
In the process of learning he didn’t start the fire and had the last name of Kovalenko, “When Calls the Heart” fans also met Toby’s mother for the first time.
Another fan asked if Christos knew the ethnic origin of the last name Kovalenko. He replied, “If you google, it says common Ukranian surname.”
Someone else added, “This is so funny!! I literally yelled: ‘Toby has a last name!!!!'”
“Oooh, having a last name is always awesome,” read another comment.
An additional “When Calls the Heart” fan gushed, “We always knew you and Cooper didn’t do it! So happy you guys are free to breathe and live your lives… and read your comic books again! By the way… you two are great actors!”

Knew you two boys didn’t start that fire. You two are really good actors.
Congratulations Toby on getting exonerated and getting a last name and a Mom all in one episode!!!
