A ‘When Calls the Heart’ Star’s Trial Episode Performance Left Castmates in Awe

Hallmark’s “When Calls the Heart” airs episode 11 of season 13 on Sunday, March 15. One WCTH star gushed over a colleague during a Hallmark event when talking about this particular episode. Fans will love knowing what she had to say.

The day that the “When Calls the Heart” cast filmed the upcoming trial scenes was a long one. Pascale Hutton, who plays Rosemary Coulter, shared the details during the Hallmark Christmas Experience event. The fun fan event was held in Kansas City, Missouri in late 2025.

Jack Wagner Impressed His ‘When Calls the Heart Co-Stars’

Video of what Hutton had to say was recently shared by Stephanie Long on Instagram. Long is the host of the popular “Heart in Motion” podcast and she attended the holiday Hallmark event.

Hutton reflected on a long day the cast and crew had filming this episode of “When Calls the Heart.” She explained that 12-hour days are the norm for them. However, in this case, they spent around 15 or 16 hours on the set as they filmed scenes for the trial.

She said that wasn’t necessarily the longest they’ve ever had, but it was right up there. They all expected it to be a long day. However, making it even more challenging was a monologue a co-star needed to deliver.

As Hutton explained, there was a lengthy monologue that co-star Jack Wagner, who plays Bill Avery, had to perform.

“The scene that we were filming was Jack monologuing for six to eight pages and we were like, ‘Oh, this is gonna be a doozy.'”

Hutton clarified that they weren’t thinking it would be a doozy specifically because of Wagner. She meant that they just all knew it was going to be a lot of hours of them all there in that space together.

Hutton then marveled, “Jack walked in there for the first rehearsal, and he rattles through it all.”

She explained that they ran through all the scenes that were essentially woven together. After Wagner nailed the rehearsal of his monologue, the other cast members all “looked at each other, and we’re like, ‘He is so good.”

Kevin McGarry joked that it all went downhill from there, though, suggesting the rest of the cast couldn’t hold a candle to Wagner’s work.

On a more serious note, however, McGarry looked at Wagner and noted, “You really drove that scene. You were amazing.”

As Hutton told the story, Wagner listened quietly, a humble, slight smile on his face.

Hearties Are Excited to See the Trial Episode

The episode is titled “Trials and Trials and Tribulations.” In a press release, Hallmark teased, “Bill and Nathan square off against skillful corporate lawyers as they present their case against the power company.”

“When Calls the Heart” fans loved Hutton’s telling of the story and clearly adore Wagner. In the comment section of Long’s Instagram post, “Hearties,” as the fans call themselves, gushed over them all.

“The ALWAYS AMAZING Jack Wagner,” one person commented.

“I love how much they love & respect one another,” added another.

Someone else added, “Putting those soap skills to work with all those pages! Can’t wait to see how the trial plays out this week!”
