Drew Scott’s toddlers know how to steal the show!
The “Property Brothers” star shared an adorable Instagram post on Thursday, March 19, where his two young children, Parker, 3, and Piper, 1, helped him and his wife, Linda Phan, whip up something delicious in the kitchen.
Drew Scott’s Toddlers Love the Kitchen
The post included both photos and videos of the HGTV family. In one clip, Drew encouraged his daughter, Piper, as she mixed a bowl of ingredients. He shifted the camera to also show Parker as he worked on his own concoction.
A second video featured Piper as she adorably babbled while assembling alphabet magnets on their refrigerator.
“Piper and Parker love being our little sous chefs! 🧑🍳,” he captioned the post.
On the same day he shared the intimate clips of his family time, Drew posted a short and informative YouTube video to his and Jonathan Scott’s account, where he gave his fans several tips on how to organize your kitchen to keep it kid-friendly.
Drew Scott’s Kid-Friendly Kitchen Hacks
His first tip was to incorporate double-duty furniture that can turn from a table into a stool and more for the kids. On the Drew & Jonathan website, details were provided as to why double-duty furniture is the ultimate addition to a family kitchen, noting how it can “transform from a step stool into a toddlers’ table in seconds, snapping into place with locks to ensure safety.”
Next up on his kid-friendly kitchen tips is to keep “playful and educational touches” in the area for the young ones to focus on while the parents take on the bulk of the cooking and cleaning. Drew mentioned in the YouTube video that having letter and number magnets for the fridge has really helped Parker to build on his memorization skills.
Drew’s third kitchen hack to keep the area kid-friendly is to “make it safe.” The HGTV star recommended buying an induction stove that uses electromagnetic energy. With this, when a hot element is taken off the stovetop, the area in which it was conducting heat completely turns off and, within seconds, is no longer hot to the touch. Drew noted that there have been times when Parker has put his hand on the stovetop but thankfully didn’t burn his hand because of the unique structure of the stove.
Drew added that safety straps for ovens and cabinet doors are also important when curious little ones are running around in the kitchen.
The “Property Brothers” star went on to suggest that having a trash bin kept away in a cabinet that opens automatically is essential to keeping children’s hands clean — and in turn — keeps the rest of the kitchen and home protected from the spreading of germs.
Drew’s next tip was to keep daily organization tools on display. By having some sort of calendar that lists the family’s schedules, it makes the entire day even more manageable than before.
The HGTV star then suggested that keeping the pantry space “work for everyone” is key to maintaining organization for a kitchen that has independent young ones. Drew noted that having a kid-friendly pantry is much more functional for Parker, who is always looking for ingredients to add to his meal prep.
Lastly, Drew recommended that labeling the drawers and containers makes it extremely easy for the kids to understand where everything is. It also saves parents time by not needing to rummage through everything to find what their child needs.
