Ben and Erin Napier have done many renovation projects on their HGTV show “Home Town,” but Erin said one project was particularly special to them. See why the renovation at their local hospital moved her to tears during the reveal.
Erin Napier Shares Special Connection She & Ben Have With the Hospital
On March 8, Erin took to Instagram to explain how one “Home Town” episode project meant so much to her and Ben.
“TONIGHT I didn’t intend to become so emotionally attached to our local hospital @scrmc over my lifetime, but here we are,” she wrote.
Erin continued, “I was born here in 1985. My dad was a department head here for 44 years. This one lovely jeweltoned but cozy room in the maternity ward received me after 2 surgeries, then at my most terrified, going into labor 3 weeks early with Helen, then when Mae was born here too.”
“This is the room where we met Lucy, then where Lottie came into the world during the pandemic. It’s the room where Jesse and Lauren’s babies were all born and my kids met their brand new first cousins,” the HGTV star explained.
“This is the room where mine and Jim’s grandmother met her first great grand child. And tonight, the hospital invites us to update it along with a few other rooms in maternal child,” she shared. “So, I am as invested in this renovation as I would be in a family home.”
Erin added, “I’ve always felt God’s hand in these rooms through the doctors and nurses and the food that was honestly soul comforting, and I guess that’s why I cried (no sobbed? Wept??!!) like a crazy person at the reveal. Anyway, watch tonight if you’re into this sort of thing on @hgtv at 8/7 ct or tomorrow on @discoveryplus @hbomax.”
Fans lit up the comments section, sharing their excitement about the episode.

Ben & Erin Share Hospital Memories, Including Their College Make-out Spot
HGTV posted a clip from the “Home Town” episode, with Ben and Erin taking a walk down memory lane about the time they’ve spent at the hospital.
“On tonight’s #HGTVHomeTown, Erin & Ben are renovating a place that’s full of memories: Laurel’s hospital,” the Instagram caption noted.
“When we were in college, I was a pharmacy tech here in the hospital,” Erin shared.
Ben added, “When we were dating, I got the job in the transport department for the physical therapy department.”
“And we would meet up and have breakfast and lunch together in the cafeteria,” Erin said.
Ben noted, “And make out in the elevator.”
Erin added, “A little bit. Sometimes.”
In the video, Ben and Erin check out the hospital’s postpartum room, noting that it looks exactly the same as when Erin had babies there.
“In 2014, I laid in that bed and took a photo of this direction,” Erin said as she pointed to the wall. “And I swear it looks identical. Nothing has changed.”
