Erin Napier on Emotional ‘Home Town’ Reveal: ‘I Cried Like an Idiot’

Erin Napier was moved to tears during a particularly emotional “Home Town” reveal on season 10 of the HGTV hit show. Find out how her personal connection to the project made for such a moving moment.

Erin Napier Shares the ‘Home Town’ Reveal That Left Her in Tears

In a January 2026 interview with TooFab, Erin and her husband Ben shared their thoughts on the newest season of “Home Town,” calling it “the dramatic, difficult season.”

One of their favorite projects in season 10 was renovating a local hospital’s maternity ward and waiting room.

It’s near and dear to Erin’s heart, she explained, because her father worked there, she was born there, and her children were also born there.

“We have a lot of very highly charged emotional days that happened in that postpartum room,” Erin explained. “I cried like an idiot at the reveal and I fully, fully didn’t intend to. I was so embarrassed.”

“It’s a special place and it’s such a special episode. I got emotional because it was all about … like, I hope these nurses and doctors, who were so incredible towards me and towards my family, every time we’ve ever been there, feel honored by it,” she noted.

“I wanted to make it wonderful for them, but the CEO of the hospital wanted it to feel like a five-star hotel experience for mothers,” the HGTV star added.

As for the moms in the maternity ward, Erin said, “I want it to be the most comforting and joyful and restful experience that it can be. And it’s just really special.”

Ben & Erin Napier Discuss the Stress of Working on a Big Project in a Small Town

While discussing the massive renovation project that spans the first two episodes of the season, Ben revealed something that “didn’t make it on the show” — the passersby checking out their work.

“It’s a very walkable neighborhood … There are walkers all day, every day. And they want to know, ‘What all are you doing to the Galaher house? What color are you going to paint it? Do they know that? Are they aware of that? Or is that approved? Did you meet with a historic board?’ ‘Yes, we did,” he shared.

That’s the nature of a small town, as Erin noted that “the neighborhood’s expectations” makes it extra stressful.

“Who cares about the world watching on TV? We care about the Episcopal priest who lives across the road watching,” she said.

As for the homeowners, Erin explained, “I’ve known them a long, long time. And so they have this expectation.”

She continued, “But we also put expectations on ourselves. Because we know we’re going to see them everywhere we go forever and ever and ever. These are not people who are ever leaving Laurel. We’re not ever leaving Laurel.”

After the “Home Town” season 10 premiere aired, fans took to the comments section of an HGTV Instagram post to share how much they’re looking forward to seeing the completed project.

“Great episode! Can’t wait for part two!” one fan noted.

Another fan wrote, “Can’t wait to see the end result. That house may need repairs but love is what held it together. Excited for the family.”

“Tonight’s episode was fantastic … what a gorgeous home. Y’all were awesome, restored it so beautifully … enjoyed it so much,” one fan commented.
