Joanna Gaines, 48, shared a beautiful Instagram video of her son Duke Gaines getting ready for prom over the weekend, marking a bittersweet moment for the HGTV mom.
The “Fixer Upper” star’s video highlighted Duke getting his bow tie tightened by a loved one. It also showed how gorgeous Joanna and husband Chip Gaines’ 40-acre farm is in Crawford, Texas, as the hit TV personality welcomed her son and his friends over for photos.

From gorgeous flower arrangements for the girls to enviable backyard views and the evening’s perfect lighting, Duke and his pals were treated like royalty for their special moment — and let’s not forget the adorable golden retriever puppies who made a cameo during the preparations!
Joanna captioned her home video by sharing that Duke and his friends, luckily, allowed her and some of the other moms to take as many photos as they wanted.
“✨P R O M 2 0 2 6 ✨ Nothing like hanging in the garden all day for prom prep with some sweet mamas. When the kids showed up they were gracious to let us take a million pics of them 🤗🤩🥰,” she wrote.
Fans of the HGTV star made their way into her comments to celebrate Duke’s growth over the years while also complimenting Joanna and Chip’s stunning property.
“Looks like a wedding!” wrote one.
“Bouquets 🌺 and puppies 🐶 So perfect!” exclaimed another.
“Wait another one headed off?? Dang, we really did watch them grow up. 😍,” said a third, referring to Joanna sending off three of her kids to prom in 2025.
The Magnolia founder shared an Instagram video of the flower arrangements she picked for her kids to take to prom last year, writing in the caption, “Three of our kiddos going to prom this weekend. Garden flowers blooming just in time!” she wrote. “This will be the first prom for one, and the last prom for another.”’

During season 5 of “Fixer Upper,” Duke comically turned scrap metal in for cash so he could go on a shopping spree, People reported. His dad recalled the funny moment during an episode that season, explaining, “Duke and I went to work a couple of weeks back; we salvaged a bunch of metal, and we kept some of that money on the side so that we could bless the Copp family. And sweet Duke decided he wanted to buy just some necessities.”
Duke followed up after his dad revealing his shopping story, joking, “Shopping with my dad is kind of impossible.” When Chip asked his son what was so impossible about shopping with him, Duke cheekily answered, “Because you look at everything and you’re like, ‘Ooh we should buy this.’”
Duke’s comical wit was again showcased in 2022 when he dressed up as a minion for Halloween, People reported. At the time, Joanna shared a photo of Duke and his friends in their costumes to her Instagram Story. Joanna joked that Duke “did not get the memo” about the group’s costume plans, as he was the only one who dressed up.
