“Property Brothers” star Jonathan Scott shared a heartwarming video as he helped fiancée Zooey Deschanel’s 81-year-old high school film teacher with an extreme clutter problem.

Scott took it upon himself to help the elderly man whose apartment had become a “hovel” as films and books were stacked floor to ceiling throughout the space, making it nearly impossible to live.
“Jonathan, I have a huge favor to ask and I hope you understand my problem,” Jim sent via text to Jonathan. “My apartment is where I used to host Sunday screenings for friends and students, and the LA Times even did a front-page article on me and my life as a teacher.”
He continued, “More than anything, I just want my apartment to be my own Parisian Cinématique, so I can share my movies with friends and not be embarrassed to have anyone over. I’m asking for your indulgence for a week. A little help to pare things down would be great.”
Jonathan didn’t waste any time getting to work to help Zooey’s mentor.
“He spent his life sharing his love of books, film, and art with those around him. For many years, he hosted parties where friends, family, and loved ones would come over to watch movies and chat about them all night. But over time, his collections started to pile up—and take over his home,” the caption on Jonathan’s YouTube video read.
Scott called in a team of expert organizers to help with “decluttering and organizing Jim’s electronics, clothes, media, and more.” The “Celebrity IOU” star also upgraded the film buff’s furniture, storage, appliances, and decor, making it possible for him to host movie nights once again.
Jim—who has lived in the same Los Angeles apartment since 1984—gushed, “It’s like a new life.”
“This is the beginning of a beautiful friendship,” he told the designer, quoting “Casablanca.”
