5 HGTV Shows That Should Get Revivals

HGTV has built an empire on feel-good renovations, dreamy house hunts, and unforgettable design personalities. While the network continues to roll out fresh concepts, longtime viewers still talk about a handful of beloved shows that left a lasting impression. In an era where TV revivals are everywhere, several HGTV favorites feel primed for a return. We picked five HGTV shows we think deserve another shot at prime time.

1. โ€˜Decorating Centsโ€™

Before these renovation shows had massive budgets, โ€œDecorating Centsโ€ showed us that style doesnโ€™t have to break the bank. Hosted by Joan Steffend, the show focused on affordable decorating solutions, creative DIY projects, and smart shopping strategies.

The show aired from 1997 to 2008, and a revival would fit perfectly into todayโ€™s cost-conscious climate. People canโ€™t afford home improvement budgets, so viewers are once again searching for realistic upgrades instead of full-scale gut jobs.

A more modern version of this show could add in some thrift store flips, Facebook Marketplace finds, and just show how people shop and decorate today on a budget.

2. โ€˜No Demo Renoโ€™

โ€œNo Demo Renoโ€ isnโ€™t as old-school as some of these other HGTV shows, but it did carve out a loyal fan base thanks to host Jenn Todrykโ€™s practical, family-friendly transformations. The concept of the show was making a big impact without major demolition.

This resonated well with homeowners, as they would want that change, but without all the chaos. While it never came back for a season 4, Todryk has said the show is only on pause. Does that mean a true revival could happen?

3. โ€˜Design on a Dimeโ€™

โ€œDesign on a Dimeโ€ was one of HGTVโ€™s most beloved budget-centric series. The show premiered in 2003 and challenged designers to transform an entire room with just $1,000.

This type of creativity and DIY spirit made it incredibly relatable. A revival could tap into todayโ€™s social media love for before-and-after transformations. Many people are working with small budgets, so it would be a great time to bring it back.

4. โ€˜Curb Appealโ€™

There are few shows that could capture the power of first impressions like โ€œCurb Appeal.โ€ This show, which debuted in 1999 and ran for six seasons, focused on exterior upgrades. From landscaping to front doors to fresh paint, these were ideas to work on to give your house more โ€œcurb appeal.

Many buyers are now making snap judgments based on online listing photos. That means exterior updates matter more than ever, so a reboot of โ€œCurb Appealโ€ would be perfect in 2026.

5. โ€˜Bargain Blockโ€™

โ€œBargain Block,โ€ which starred Keith Bynum and Evan Thomas, brought heart and personality to Detroit home renovations. The show was just feel-good television, as they restored neglected properties and then sold them at attainable price points.

Viewers have been upset with HGTV ever since this show was cancelled, so a revival would make the โ€œBargain Blockโ€ fans very happy.

Which HGTV shows would you like to see get a revival?

  1. You took off all the good shows such as :
    Married to Real Estate
    Farmhouse Fixer
    Bargain Block
    No Demo Reno
and replaced them with ones that I’ll never watch so as far as I’m concerned you have almost lost me as far as watching your channel. I have resorted to watching Magnolia network to fill in the gaps.

    • I’m with you, I’m watching old reruns instead of the ridiculous shows they are airing now. The worst for me is Ugliest House in America. I don’t know who thought of this concept .

  2. BARGAIN BLOCK has to come back! Good Luck convincing them to come back! Biggest mistake EVER to cancel Bargain Block! Greatest show ever! Hardly watch HGTV anymore! The other 4 shows would be great to bring back also! Loved them and used to watch them all the time!

  3. I Loved No Demo Reno — never missed an episode — and also. Design on a Dime. Would love HGTV to bring those back.
I don’t watch HGTV for drama.
We do enjoy watching House Hunters International and My Lottery Dream Home or anything David Bromstad is on.
    David always makes me smile.

  5. All of these shows! I especially loved Bargain Block because they were creative and cost conscious. I feel that HGTV has become a little tone deaf to the viewing audience with how costly things they present are. Itโ€™s great to dream about things, but itโ€™s also good to present practical and inexpensive things, too. HGTV
    Huge
    Grand
    Totally unattainable

  6. I love Bargain Block, Married to Real Estate and No Demo Reno. I am really tired of Drew and Jonathan on every program and all of the house hunter type shows.

  9. I would really, really, really love for Bargain Block, and No Demo Reno to return. They are both fantastic shows. If I could only choose one it would be Bargain Block.

  10. I have been a huge fan of HGTV but right now they are showing same kind of programs. I donโ€™t see the creative side anymore, innovative ideas not even practical advice for home renovations. My first memory was David Bromstadโ€™ Color Splashโ€™. That was one of my favorites at the time. I really loved it โ€ฆ From the ones you mentioned, I would like Bargain Block back (These guys are super creative with a tight budget), No Demo Reno (she is also creative, informative about her projects and always trying to save cost), and some competition that not necessarily has to be a whole house but a room contestants have to decorate according to instructions given. Right now I am happy Renovation Aloha is back this month (they bring a bit of Hawaii style to us with original textiles and some new ideas from the island living ).
