Kim Kardashian Confidently Steps Out in Sheer Barely-There Top: PHOTOS

The barely-there fashion craze is far from over. Just take a peek at Dakota Johnson in a see-through dress and Lizzo in a sheer bodysuit as well as Demi Lovato in a pantless ensemble and Jenna Ortega’s revealing (and heavy) top. Now, Kim Kardashian has opted to step out in a bold shirt of her own.

Not long after showing up with a dramatic pixie cut, Kim made a public appearance in a shirt that was more of a band of fabric across her chest. At the back, the fabric was even thinner, and in certain lights, the entire piece was quite sheer.

Kim also wore a lengthy white skirt that had a print on both the front and the back. She also opted for high heels as well as a thick metallic cuff on her upper arm and no other accessories.

The shirt happened to be very similar to one she wore while in Italy for the wedding of Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sanchez.

Sheer Fashion Has Been Around for Longer Thank You Might Think

While Kim’s top proves that the sheer craze is alive and well, it may never have gone away to begin with, according to Vogue.

“Lately fashion has left little to the imagination. The sheer-dress trend, while varying in levels of (im)modesty, is inescapable, as barely concealed nipples, belly buttons, and thongs have graced every red carpet from the Grammys to the Oscars,” Vogue explained. “While celebrities including Rihanna, Kendall Jenner, and Beyoncé have all played a role the trend’s recent resurgence, translucent garments have been making jaws drop and eyes bulge for centuries.”

WWD also noted the longevity of this style, saying, “Sheer looks in fashion from haute couture to ready-to-wear have proliferated the runways for decades, and today is no different.”

“The inclusion of sheer fabrics may have been more risky in past decades, but it has become less so in the last few years. In the ’70s and ’80s Halston and Yves Saint Laurent showed subtle sheer looks, so did Marc Bohan for Dior. By the 1990s that would change with multiple designers, including Tom Ford in his role as creative director at Gucci,” noted WWD. “Today, head-to-toe sheer looks in a multitude of opacities and fabrications are seasonless.”

North’s Style Sense Has Inspired Kim

Kim may be influenced by popular trends, however, she’s also found herself inspired by her daughter, North West.

“She teaches me a lot. So she has a really unique style. She puts me on to so many brands, like she just loves what she loves,” Kim said during an interview with Complex Style. “And it’s just really fun to see someone be so creative. And also know herself so much.”

“All of her friends were getting really girly outfits, and she tried it with me once. And she wore something that was really girly,” Kim recalled. “And she was like, ‘Whoa, wait, this isn’t me. I just get that I love dressing a little bit more tomboy-ish.’ And she loves her T-shirts and her jerseys and her jorts.”

Kim added: “She tried it for a good week, to be like, girly or wear what the kids, you know, her friends were wearing. And then she realized quick, like, ‘This isn’t me,’ and I love that for her.”
