The sheer craze is alive and well. That is, if you ask Dakota Johnson, Charli XCX and Lizzo, who have all stepped out in barely-there outfits. That group now includes the star of Netflix’s “Wednesday” series, Jenna Ortega. The actor — who isn’t afraid to wear bold and revealing ensembles — showed up at Sarah Burton’s spring 2026 show for Givenchy in a sheer outfit that made a see-through statement.
GettyWearing a deep maroon dress that featured a large ruffled top and thin straps, the gown then flowed down to her feet in a sheer material. Beneath the piece, she appeared to be wearing a matching bodysuit.
To complete the outfit, Ortega opted to wear black and maroon heels and seemingly added earrings but no other jewelry. She also wore her hair down and deep makeup to compete with the rest of the striking look.
Along with Ortega, stars like Cynthia Erivo, Jodie Comer, Charlize Theron and Eddie Redmayne could be spotted in the front row of the Givenchy show, according to Vogue.
Fans Loved Ortega’s Sheer Look
GettyWhen photos of Ortega at the Givenchy show hit social media, fans were quick to give their approval of her outfit.
“Wow, what a beautiful thing 🫦😍❤️🔥❤️,” one person wrote, admiring the gown.
Another left a comment, saying, “Gorgeous Queen 😍😍😍😍❤️❤️❤️”
“OMG she never stop, slayyyy queeenn 😍😍😍,” someone else wrote.
That’s not to mention all of the heart and fire emojis that proved fans loved the sheer dress.
Sheer Fashion is Having a Moment
GettyBack in April, Vogue claimed that sheer fashion was “in its downward trajectory,” even though Bella Hadid was still wearing the revealing style. Beyond that, plenty of other stars have been keeping the trend alive and well.
“Sheer fashion took center stage this awards season as stars like Zoë Kravitz, Keke Palmer and Bianca Censori rocked bold, barely-there looks that turned tons of heads,” Us Weekly noted that same month. “Kravitz brought the heat in a dramatic cutout gown that left little to the imagination and quickly grabbed attention with her red carpet confidence. Palmer kept the wow factor going by stepping into a vintage Versace stunner once worn by Christina Aguilera, proving she’s got both glam and guts.”
“Meanwhile, Censori caused a stir at the Grammys, stripping down to a sheer minidress, though she won’t face any fallout for her jaw-dropping outfit,” according to Us. “Even younger stars like Leni Klum are jumping into the spotlight, embracing lingerie shoots with mom Heidi Klum and brushing off the critics as they lean into body-positive fashion moments.”
