Valerie Bertinelli is making a return to screens in the new Lifetime Original Movie, “Love, Again,” ten years after filming wrapped on”Hot in Cleveland.”
Alongside co-stars Eric McCormack and Henry Czerny, Bertinelli stars as a woman confronted with how to handle her husband’s worsening Alzheimer’s.

GettyBertinelli plays Caroline, who has been married to Czerny’s character Henry for 30 years, per PEOPLE. In the opening scenes of the trailer, she is seen struggling to deal with her husband’s worsening early on-set Alzheimer’s.
“Henry is getting so much worse,” she says somberly. “Nurses won’t come anymore. He gets so angry.”
Henry is then seen at a hospital, attended to by McCormack’s character Leo.
“Am I supposed to be here?” Henry asks.

Getty“This movie is so moving, and so full of heart,” Bertinelli says in the powerful trailer.
“I feel it will help a lot of people who are going through this feel like they’re not alone,” adds co-star Henry Czerny.
“After losing her husband, [Caroline] gets a second chance in life,” Bertinelli explains.
This second chance appears in the form of McCormack’s Leo, who explains to Caroline, “Happiness comes from finding someone you care about who would walk down the path with you.”
Bertinelli Found Filming Process “Cathartic”
GettyThe chef and actress, known for roles in “Touched By An Angel” and “Hot in Cleveland,” opened up about the filming process in an interview with USA Today.
“The first scene we filmed was a crying scene, so I’m like, ‘OK, good, just get raw right now, Val,'” Bertinelli shared.
“I found that it was so cathartic. I was able to take all of this grief that I’d been living with the last eight years… and take all of that frustration and grief and sadness and put it into a role.”
Bertinelli had dealt with difficult losses during the past eight years, including her parents, ex-husband Eddie van Halen, and beloved cat.
However, she says filming allowed her to process those emotions.
“There are a couple of scenes in a car where I’m trying to scream to let it out. And I literally do that, as Valerie. I’ll get in my car and just let out the biggest scream,” she revealed.
“I can’t do it in my house because I’ll scare the cats and it’s hard to do into a pillow, so I’ll just get in my car and scream. I forgot the cameras were there most of the time.”
“Love, Again” premieres Saturday, May 9.
