Michelle Pfeiffer Says She’s ‘Lucky In Love’ After 32 Years

Michelle Pfeiffer is celebrating 32 years of marriage with her husband, writer and producer David E. Kelley.

The “Ant-Man and the Wasp” actress, 67, marked the milestone on Nov. 13 with a rare Instagram post showing the couple walking hand in hand through the streets of Bozeman, Montana, where Pfeiffer is currently filming her upcoming Taylor Sheridan–created series The Madison. “Lucky in love for 32 years 🤍,” she captioned the post.

The heartwarming post drew love from fans and famous friends alike. Rita Wilson commented, “Happy Anniversary!!! You’re both so lovely!!! Here’s to doubling that number!” while another fan added, “A good number. And an example of legacy-love for Hollywood.” Others praised the couple for their enduring bond, with one user writing, “Congrats! How great to see couples in the movies/tv business live a long and happy life together!”

A Love Story That Started on a Blind Date

Pfeiffer and Kelley, 69, first met in early 1993 after being set up on a blind date. Their first outing was a group bowling night that Pfeiffer later joked “didn’t start off great” since Kelley spent part of the evening chatting with her sister. But the two quickly connected, and their relationship moved fast.

At the time, Pfeiffer was already in the process of adopting her daughter, Claudia. Two months into dating, the adoption was finalized, giving Kelley an early glimpse of family life. “It was sort of perfectly timed,” Pfeiffer told Good Housekeeping in a past interview, adding that it showed her the kind of person he was.

The couple married that November in a private ceremony. Kelley officially adopted Claudia, and they welcomed their son, John Henry, in 1994.

Keeping Love Strong for Over Three Decades

Over the years, Pfeiffer and Kelley have remained one of Hollywood’s most enduring couples. Despite their busy careers — Kelley is the Emmy-winning creator behind “Big Little Lies” and “Ally McBeal” — they’ve kept their marriage out of the spotlight and maintain clear boundaries between work and home life.

Pfeiffer has previously said they avoid working together to protect their relationship, telling The New Yorker that she “values their marriage more than a good part.”

Now celebrating 32 years together, the couple continues to lead a quiet life, occasionally stepping out for red carpet events, including the 2024 Golden Globes. Reflecting on her long-lasting partnership, Pfeiffer told Parade in 2012, “I got really lucky. I never take him for granted. I’ve never met a person who has more integrity than my husband.”
