Sometimes, positive things can happen courtesy of the most unfortunate of situations — and it was a shared unfortunate experience that recently allowed Paris Hilton and Britney Spears to strengthen their two-decade-long friendship.
Hilton and Spears originally became pals over 20 years ago., during the height of their fame in the mid-2000s tabloid era, when they were often photographed together at parties, events, and other outings in Los Angeles and elsewhere.
Hilton has explained that they reconnected not too long ago — and sharing negative experiences from back then has made their bond stronger than ever.
Paris Hilton and Britney Spears Bonded Over Their Shared Traumas
GettyPer People, Paris Hilton appeared on the Thursday, January 29 episode of the “I’ve Never Said This Before with Tommy DiDario” podcast
The media personality, businesswoman, and socialite, 44, opened up about her relationship with Britney Spears. She explained how she had been with the singer, also 44, only recently, and they spoke about their negative experiences with the media in the early days of their fame.
Hilton said, “I was just with Britney a few weeks ago for her birthday (December 2) in Mexico and we were just talking about how cruel and mean-spirited people were back then.” She continued, “And she is someone that can relate to that. Very few people can. It has made us both so strong.”
Later in her chat with DiDario, Hilton expanded on the topic, telling the host, “Back then, it was entertainment to tear down women. It was very isolating. If I were to go back and speak to my younger self, I would say, ‘Paris you’re going to go through a lot in life and sometimes its going to be so difficult and scary and hard, but one day its going to be worth it.'”
Hilton then justifiably complimented herself about her strength in overcoming those negative experiences, saying, “Because you’re going to inspire millions of people, you’re going to create a blueprint and turn your pain into your purpose and help save the lives of children, women, and survivors all around the world.”
It wasn’t the first time in recent years that Hilton had referenced her longstanding friendship with Spears. In November 2024, she posted a reel of three nostalgic photographs (see above) on her Instagram account showing the day the iconic pair “invented the selfie” back in 2006.
Britney Spears Has Endured a Tough Time Again Recently
GettySadly, it appears Britney Spears has recently experienced tough times again.
Per Entertainment Tonight, the star left Instagram in early November of 2025, after posting about her “traumatic experience” while under a conservatorship.
One of her final posts, dated October 19, was captioned, “I do feel like my wings were taken away and brain damage happened to me a long time ago 100 percent.”
According to People, she returned to the platform on November 7, positively encouraging her followers to “Get your ballerina 🩰, circle, and own your boundaries. It’s incredibly strict and somewhat of a form of prayer but with so many endless possibilities in life, it’s important to do you and keep it simple.”
She has, however, removed herself from the platform again.
It’s encouraging to know that her meeting with Paris Hilton to celebrate her birthday came after that, and we certainly hope she’s okay.
We wish her all the very best in life.
