Longtime “Today” anchor Savannah Guthrie’s mother, 84-year-old Nancy Guthrie, has now been missing for over 48 hours after vanishing from her Arizona home located in the Catalina Foothills. It was reported by the Pima County Sheriff’s Department that Nancy’s life-saving medication she relies on was left behind.
Now alarming audio from a 911 call regarding Nancy’s disappearance has surfaced which gives new insight on the health status of the beloved matriarch.
Nancy Guthrie 911 Call Says 84-Year-Old Has Heart Problems
In the audio, which was published on the afternoon of February 3 by Fox News digital, a dispatch responder is heard saying, “Nancy, a white female, 84 years of age. 5’2, medium build. Nancy has high blood pressure, a pacemaker, and cardiac issues.”
These health issues underscore the importance of the medications which police say were left behind in Nancy’s home, along with her purse.
Although Nancy’s physical health may be in decline, she is cognitively sharp. “She’s very alert, of good, sound mind – just some physical ailments that limit her ability to move around,” Sheriff Nanos said previously.
Fox News Digital says they were told by a law enforcement source that Nancy’s pacemaker stopped synching with her Apple Watch around 2 AM Sunday morning, and “investigators believe she was taken out of range around that time.”
Nancy Guthrie Missing: February 3 Press Conference Video
The Pima County Sheriff, Chris Nanos, told reporters during Tuesday’s press conference about the Nancy Guthrie case, “We’ve gotta find her, and we’ve gotta work hard to do that.”
He went on, “I understand there’s great attention on this, and rightfully so. And I appreciate it, and I thank you for it cause it has generated a lot of leads for us. And so we’re tracking those leads. We’re doing things with evidence that you would expect us to be doing.”
Answering questions from reporters, Nanos said “we don’t know” as to whether the abduction appears random or targeted.
John Edwards, the assistant special agent in charge of the FBI’s Tucson operations, also made a statement. He told the press, “First we want the community to know that the FBI is doing everything in our power to bring Nancy Guthrie home to her family. The FBI is working alongside the Pima County Sheriff’s Department on this incident.”
Edwards continued, “In terms of what the FBI is doing, we are providing the following support: primarily its analytical and technical support in the following ways. We’re downloading and analyzing cell phones, obtaining cell tower information, conducting interviews, and providing any and all investigative support that the Sheriff’s Department needs.”
He then addressed the Pima County community’s residents, saying, “We are looking at this from every angle, but we need your help. If you live in the area or saw something on Saturday night, the 31st of January, or Sunday morning, the 1st of February, please report it to the Pima County Sheriff’s Department or the FBI at 1-800-CALL-FBI. Every lead and tip is important. We are aggressively pursuing and looking into every single one. Again, please help us bring Nancy Guthrie home. Thank you.”
