As the Love Island USA Season 8 Reunion airs tonight, August 31, at 9 p.m. ET on Peacock, fans are tuning in. They want to see where final-four couple Carl and Aniya stand after a whirlwind ending in Fiji.
The pair enters the reunion with plenty of romance, a recent mystery getaway, and a major real-world hurdle ahead.
The Casa Amor Recoupling Twist and KC’s Fallout
Aniya’s journey in paradise was one of the most tumultuous of the season. Early on, she was locked in a high-drama connection with KC. However, their dynamic unraveled during Casa Amor, largely driven by the fallout surrounding Sol.
Despite forming an undeniable spark with Carl, Aniya ultimately decided to stick with her history and chose KC at the emotional Casa Amor recoupling. This sent Carl packing and left him dumped from the island.
The decision quickly backfired. KC walked back into the main villa with Tierra, fracturing his partnership with Aniya beyond repair and leaving her single. However, fate wasn’t finished with Carl and Aniya.
Production brought Carl back to the Main Villa in a surprise twist from a public vote. USA had the chance to exclusively vote on the Love Island USA app for which Casa Amor Bombshell should be given a 2nd chance. As a result, the pair got a second chance to rebuild their connection.
A Storybook Finale Date
Once reunited, Carl and Aniya’s connection blossomed rapidly. Bypassing the villa’s high-octane drama, they focused on emotional depth and open communication. In doing so, they swiftly won back the hearts of their fellow islanders and viewers at home. They even landed 2nd place in the Love Island USA Season 8 Finale.
Their trajectory culminated in a breathtaking finale date. Surrounded by a fairytale, storybook-like setting, Carl and Aniya reflected on their rocky path to each other. They celebrated how getting dumped, second chances, and forgiveness brought them to the final four.
Post-Villa Reality: No Titles Yet, Nantucket Teases, and Denver Distance
While their chemistry on screen was unquestionable, Carl and Aniya are taking a cautious approach to the real world. During a recent appearance on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen, the couple confirmed that they are not officially boyfriend and girlfriend yet. Carl explained that because he arrived late during Casa Amor, they only had two weeks together in the villa. Therefore, they want to build a genuine foundation without rushing into titles.
However, an upgrade might already be in the works. In an Access Hollywood interview released ahead of tonight’s reunion, the pair teased a recent getaway. They took that trip together to Nantucket.
The biggest test ahead for the couple will be geographical distance. Carl is set to begin physical therapy school in Denver for the next three years. This means the pair will have to navigate a long-distance setup as they transition out of the post-show bubble.
When host Ariana Madix and Andy Cohen pull them to the couches tonight, expect an update on whether Nantucket made them official. Also, we’ll hear how they plan to conquer three years of Denver long-distance.
