Soap star Sawandi Wilson and his wife, Anna Eilinsfeld, welcomed their first child last week, a baby girl, after a terrifying birth. Wilson has opened up about that, as well as beginning dad life with his daughter in the NICU (neonatal intensive care unit).
‘General Hospital’ Star Sawandi Wilson Gives NICU Update on Daughter
Taking to Instagram, Wilson shared a video with a warning that the footage contained graphic content as he got honest about his baby girl being in the NICU.
“Day one of being a dad, she’s hooked up to machines to help her breathe,” he expressed. Wilson revealed that 30 minutes after the birth, his wife was stitched up and their daughter was taken to the NICU on oxygen.
Wilson went on to add, “The first time we see our daughter, like, technically, the first, day one of being a dad, she’s hooked up to machines to help her breathe. She’s hooked up to machines to help stabilize her glucose levels.”
The actor admitted that when he first walked into the NICU, he was filled with whys. Why him? Why his family? Why his daughter? However, Wilson revealed he quickly gained perspective after being in the NICU.
“Take a second, I look to my left, I see a baby that’s been in there for like two months, who’s getting ready for major cardiac surgery. I look to my right, and I see an empty bassinet. Who knows who came or went or if they survived? But then I looked straight ahead of me, and I’m looking at my baby, and I’m trusting,” Wilson stated.
Eilinsfeld and Wilson’s daughter has been making great progress. The “General Hospital” star explained that she got off oxygen and the IV. Wilson revealed that being in the NICU helped make his daughter’s recovery stronger because the medical team was top-notch.

Sawandi Wilson Opens Up About Daughter’s Terrifying Birth
In an Instagram video posted over the weekend, Wilson revealed that Eilinsfeld had given birth. Wilson opened the video by praising the medical team at Cedars-Sinai Hospital.
“You guys are incredible. You saved my baby’s life. You saved my wife’s life, and you saved my life. So I love you guys. Thank you so much,” the soap star stated.
Wilson then opened up a little bit about the birth. He shared that he was suited up outside an operating room when he heard alarms going off and was rushed in by a doctor. The actor explained that there was blood all over the floor and gave some other details on what the OR and his wife looked like on the operating table.
Once he saw his wife, she wanted him to tell her a story, so he just started talking about anything to take their mind off what was happening around them. During Wilson’s story, the baby was pulled out, but she was barely crying. That’s where the video ended.
