The 77th annual Primetime Emmy Awards are well underway! The ceremony, which awards the best and brightest actors, directors, hosts, cinematographers and behind-the-scenes stars television has to offer, officially kicked off its 2025 “Creative Arts” accolades last weekend.
While “Survivor” was nominated for four Emmy awards at this year’s back-to-back Creative Arts ceremonies on Saturday, September 6 and Sunday, September 7, the longrunning CBS series unfortunately walked away empty handed.
The series’ longtime host, Jeff Probst, similarly failed to secure the award for Outstanding Host For A Reality Competition Program, which ultimately went to “The Traitors” host Alan Cumming for the second year in a row.
That being said, Probst’s time with the 2025 Primetime Emmy Awards is far from over, as the host has been confirmed as one of the star-studded names set to present awards as the annual ceremonies continue on Sunday, September 14.

Did ‘Survivor’ Win at the 2025 Emmy Awards?
As previously mentioned, “Survivor” was nominated for four awards at this year’s ceremonies: Outstanding Host, Outstanding Casting, Outstanding Cinematography and Outstanding Reality Competition Program.
CBS/GettyWhile Probst won the Emmy for Outstanding Reality Host four times consecutively from 2008 to 2011, the 63-year-old executive producer remained absent from nomination lists following his most recent victory, only returning to Emmy consideration in 2024 following Season 47 of “Survivor.” After Probst’s winning streak, “RuPaul’s Drag Race” host RuPaul celebrated an 8-year stint at “Best Host” from 2016 to 2023 until he was dethroned by “The Traitors” host Alan Cumming in 2024. Cumming, who is similarly set to reprise his “X-Men” role as Nightcrawler in the upcoming MCU blockbuster “Avengers: Doomsday,” once again defeated Probst and RuPaul, as well as “Top Chef” host Kristen Kish and the numerous hosts of ABC’s “Shark Tank” for this year’s accolade.
In the Outstanding Casting category, “Survivor” casting director Jesse Tannenbaum, who was similarly nominated for his casting work on “The Amazing Race” in the same category, faced tough competition from reality shows like “RuPaul’s Drag Race,” “Queer Eye” and “Love on the Spectrum,” with the latter coming out on top at Sunday night’s ceremony.
NBC’s “The Traitors” took home its second Emmy of the night in the Outstanding Cinematography For A Reality Program category, defeating other nominees like “Survivor,” “The Amazing Race,” “Love on the Spectrum” and “Life Below Zero.”
“Survivor” Could Still Win an Emmy This Year
The winner of the final category that “Survivor” was nominated in – Outstanding Reality Competition Program – will not be announced until Sunday night’s proceedings. The CBS staple will face off against its network sibling series “The Amazing Race” as well as “RuPaul’s Drag Race,” “Top Chef” and “The Traitors” for the ultimate award in reality competition TV this weekend.
Will “The Tratiors” continue its winning streak? Or will “Survivor” celebrate a come from behind victory? The result remains to be seen. Regardless of the outcome, Probst has said that he is “proud” of the longrunning series for returning to Emmys consideration status after 25 years on the air.
“On behalf of our entire crew, we’re incredibly grateful for this Emmy nomination,” wrote Probst on Instagram after this year’s nominees were announced in July. “We’re always striving to elevate the format, push boundaries with our storytelling and celebrate the authentic, relatable moments of the amazing players who take on the ‘Survivor’ adventure!”
“Survivor” fans can catch the conclusion of the 77th annual Primetime Emmy Awards on CBS this Sunday, September 24 at 8:00pm ET. The ceremony will similarly be available to stream live on Paramount+.
