Taylor Swift Gets Big News in Recent Dispute

Taylor Swift received a major update in an ongoing legal dispute. The pop star was at odds with Cathay Home as the company attempted to create a line of bedding named “Swift Home.” The home goods manufacturer will no longer be moving forward with its attempt to trademark the name.

Taylor Swift Contacted the U.S. Government

On February 11, Swift reached out to the United States Patent and Trademark Office to bring action against Cathay Home. The pop star is represented by TAS Rights Management LLC. Swift and her team argued that the use of “Swift Home” could cause confusion among potential consumers, creating a “false association.”

The logo used by Cathay Home is also eerily similar to Swift’s own signature. The company positioned the word “Swift” over “Home,” with the latter word written in a plain, all capital font. The “Swift,” however, is in a cursive font that appears to resemble Swift’s trademarked logo. The “S” and “T” in particular align with the 36-year-old’s signature.

Additionally, Swift’s team argued that the “Opalite” singer already owns trademarks with her name for products such as bed linens, which is one of Cathay Home’s key products.

Cathay Home initially filed for the “Swift Home” trademark in 2025.

Cathay Home Backs Down

Cathay Home did not put up much of a fight, backing down from their attempt to trademark “Swift Home” after the blonde songstress submitted her appeal to the U.S. government.

“Such decisions are often practical and commercially sensible,” said Ting Geng, a lawyer for Cathay Home, in an official statement. She continued, saying that Cathay Home and Swift’s camp had reached a “consent-to-coexist” agreement over previous “Swift Home” trademark attempts.

“After evaluating the circumstances, our client elected not to pursue registration of a mark it did not consider essential to its business,” said Geng.

Swift has filed over 300 trademarks throughout her career, including appeals to protect her name, initials and album titles, and has over 175 live trademarks.

Swift in Other News

Swift has kept herself in the news for other reasons: the Olympic Winter Games in Milan. She teamed up with NBC to create a video introducing the U.S. Women’s Figure Skating team, whom she dubs the “Blade Angels.” Skaters Amber Glenn, Alysa Liu and Isabeau Levito make up the collective.

Swift also had a lavish Valentine’s Day with her fiancé, Travis Kelce. The football star reportedly showered her with over $140,000 worth of gifts, including clothing from Louis Vuitton and a $91,600 Audemars Piguet Royal Oak timepiece.
