‘Bachelor’ Star Goes ‘Rogue’ With Unexpected Haircut

Carly Waddell didn’t exactly stick to her plan. In a recent Instagram video, the “Bachelor” alum set out with one idea—before deciding to go a completely different direction.

The season 3 “Bachelor in Paradise” winner documented herself cutting her own hair while fully acknowledging that things took an unexpected turn.

“Was gonna make a post about if you’re having a bad day you should just wash your hair…..but then I just went all rogue,” she wrote in on-screen text set to the tune of Ella Langley’s “Loving Life Again.”

The clip shows Waddell snipping the ends of her wet hair before revealing the final result: a styled, curled look that turned out far more polished than viewers might have expected mid-chop.

In the caption, she joked about her timing.

“Was gonna do the chop during mercury retrograde but it seemed crazy…so now that we are out, seems fine,” she captioned the post.

As Waddell cut her own hair on camera, viewers weren’t exactly calm about it.

One fan admitted, “The whole time you were cutting I was saying ‘no! No! No!’ and then I saw it fixed and literally said ‘oh, okay. It’s so cute!'”

Another wrote, “If only I was so brave to cut my own hair! Give me some of your confidence!!!!”

“OMG WHAAAAAAAAAT?! You are brave my friend lol,” a third added.

Fellow Bachelor Nation alum Jade Roper also chimed in.

“It turned out sooo good!! 🤩,” she wrote.

Waddell responded to the “Bachelor in Paradise” season 2 winner with a dose of honesty about the DIY process. “hahaha the unevenness is hilarious up close,” she wrote.

Carly Waddell’s Original Advice? Just Wash Your Hair

About a week later, Waddell shared what appears to be the video she originally intended to post—before the impromptu haircut happened.

In the March 31 clip, she offered a simple (and very specific) piece of advice:

“If you’re having a bad day—I’m talking like surface level bad, not like really, really, really bad…wash your hair,” she said. “Because it just, like, changes the energy.”

The sentiment tied back to her earlier caption, revealing that the haircut moment came from what started as a much simpler idea.

Waddell first appeared on season 19 of “The Bachelor,” led by Chris Soules, before returning for multiple seasons of “Bachelor in Paradise,” where she ultimately found love and got engaged to Evan Bass. The two had two children together before splitting up in 2020; they now co-parent their daughter and son. Now, she’s a singer—having opened up for Backstreet Boy Nick Carter on his tour back in late 2023—and a YouTuber, in addition to being a mom.

These days, though, it seems she’s also adding “improptu hairstylist” to the list.
