Former NFL athlete turned lawyer Mel Owens is ready to open his heart on season 2 of “The Golden Bachelor.” The reality TV series returns with 23 women vying for Owens’ affection, but he’s not the only man these ladies will need to make a connection with.
Owens is a father to two sons from his first marriage to his now ex-wife, Fabiana Pimentel: Lucas, 20, and Andre, 18. As Owens embarks on a new journey to find his perfect partner on “The Bachelor” spinoff, his two sons stand firmly behind him, supporting him every step of the way.
Meet ‘Golden Bachelor’ Mel Owens’ Two Sons
Whoever wins the heart of “Golden Bachelor” Mel Owens will also need to win over his two older sons. According to Us Weekly, the season 2 lead welcomed his first son, Lucas, in 2005, and his second son, Andre, in 2007, with his ex-wife Fabiana Pimentel.
Owens and Pimentel filed for divorce in 2020, after nearly 18 years of marriage, but their divorce was not finalized until 2024, per Today. The former married couple agreed on joint custody of their two sons.
According to the 66 year old’s “Golden Bachelor” bio, his divorce occurred around the same time as his father’s passing. Although it was a dark time in his life, Owens decided to shift his “energy into being the best father he could be, focusing on raising his sons and coaching their extracurricular sports teams.”
Further, Owens has described himself as a “devoted dad” in his bio. In an interview with USA Today, the lawyer stated that his sons live “primarily” with him, adding, “I cherish that great father-son relationship. Every morning, I get to be with them before they go to school.”
Lucas & Andre Are Totally Supporting Their Dad’s ‘Golden Bachelor’ Journey
Mel Owens’ two sons are very supportive of their father finding love on reality TV. They even joined him in a heartfelt video for the series, sharing how much they hope he finds love with one of the 23 women ready to open their hearts to him.
In the clip, both Lucas and Andre sit with their father, with the oldest sharing, “I thought it was a good opportunity for you to put yourself out there.” Andre then agrees with his brother, adding, “We hope you find someone you truly love.”
The three men share how much they enjoy being around each other, with Owens coaching them in sports and even cooking, “breakfast, lunch, and dinner” for them. After reflecting on their younger days with their dad, Lucas shared, “You’re never too old to fall in love.”
Towards the end of the clip, when Owens asks his sons for advice, Andre shares, “Make them laugh,” with Lucas stating, “just be a gentleman.”
Fans are looking forward to seeing both Lucas and Andre on the new season, hopefully guiding their dad in making the right decision.
