Joe Amabile Reveals He Ran Over 3 Miles Just 15 Days After Major Brain Surgery In Latest Health Update

“The Bachelorette” star Joe Amabile continues to share updates about his health journey following major brain surgery to remove a tumor. Amabile first shared that he was diagnosed with “a blueberry-sized lesion” in his brain on July 13 and just weeks later, underwent successful brain surgery.

In recent days, Amabile and his wife, Serena Pitt, have shared an honest look at his recovery, including revealing the large scar on his head and documenting the day he had his stitches removed. Now, Amabile is sharing another major milestone in his recovery, revealing he was cleared to run again and inspiring others with his progress.


Joe Amabile Shares He Ran Over 3 Miles Just Days After Brain Surgery

Joe Amabile is continuing to share his recovery progress after having major brain surgery to remove a tumor on August 5. Taking to Instagram on Thursday, August 20, just 15 days after surgery, the former “Bachelorette” contestant revealed that he is running again.

In his video, Amabile is seen stretching as he prepares for his run. Also clearly visible is the large scar left behind on the top of his head after his surgery.

Over his video, Amabile shared, “15 days after my brain surgery and I’m going for my first run. Wish me luck.”

He also reassured fans who questioned whether he should already be running, adding, “And don’t worry, I was medically cleared.”

In his caption, Amabile shared that he ran over three miles. “If you’re looking for a little inspiration this morning I just ran 3 and half miles only 15 days after my brain surgery,” he wrote.

Those in the comment section were thrilled to hear that Amabile had already been cleared to run again, filling the post with positive and uplifting messages as he continues to make great progress in his recovery.

Amabile Shared Plans to Run the NYC Marathon After His Brain Surgery

Before brain surgery and after announcing his brain tumor diagnosis to fans, Amabile shared that he hoped he was still able to participate in the NYC Marathon taking place in November.

In an Instagram Story shared on July 28, Amabile posted a screenshot that showed he was registered for the 2026 New York City Marathon, which will occur on November 1. Alongside the photo, he wrote, “We’ll see” with a crossed-finger emoji.

For those who follow Amabile on social media, he ran both the 2024 and 2025 NYC Marathons. During last year’s marathon, the reality TV star shared a major accomplishment by finishing 10 minutes earlier than the year prior.

“Second NYC Marathon baby-3:49- Ten minutes faster than my first one. Next few days are going to be painful,” he captioned his video.

With Amabile already making impressive strides in his recovery, here’s hoping he continues to heal and get the all-clear to take on the marathon this November.
