Rachael Kirkconnell is giving Tokyo another chance, this time bringing her sister along for the adventure. Earlier this year, Bachelor Nation was stunned when Kirkconnell and “The Bachelor” season 25 lead Matt James split during a trip to the Japanese capital, leaving many to wonder if she’d ever return to the city that held such painful memories.
Months later, Kirkconnell is back, sharing several photos of her fun-filled Tokyo trip on Instagram. Along with her photos was a cheeky caption that had fans and former Bachelor stars absolutely loving the post.
Rachael Kirkconnell Returns to Tokyo: ‘Let’s Try This Again Shall We…’
Former “The Bachelor” contestant Rachael Kirkconnell returned to Tokyo for the first time since her split with Matt James. Kirkconnell traveled to Japan with her sister, Trinity Kirkconnell, sharing several photos that highlighted everything from delicious Japanese cuisine and cute shops to, of course, a couple of mirror selfies during her stay.
While Kirkconnell’s stunning looks and mouthwatering food pictures certainly grabbed fans’ attention, it was her witty caption that had them loving every moment of her Tokyo trip.
Kirkconnell captioned her post, “Let’s try this again shall we…” along with a few sushi emojis.
The former Bachelor star was referencing her previous trip to Tokyo in January, where she and her former boyfriend, Matt James, split shortly afterward. As fans can recall, James shared a breakup post on Instagram during their trip, using a photo of the two during his Bachelor season. It totally shocked fans as he had shared a photo of the two eating pizza in London just hours earlier.
GettyDuring an interview on the “Call Her Daddy” podcast shortly after the announcement, Kirkconnell revealed that she was blindsided by his post. She shared with host Alex Cooper that she had no time to react or process James’ post because she had to board a 12-hour flight.
“So then, literally the plane is taking off and I see his post, and that’s it. I don’t have any service or anything for the next 12 hours, so I’m freaking out because, you know, just got broken up with and now, a few hours later, it’s for the whole world to see and I’m still trying to process it,” Kirkconnell said.
Bachelor Nation Reacts to Kirkconnell’s Return to Tokyo
Kirkconnell received a ton of love and support from both fans and Bachelor Nation stars for her Tokyo post. “The Bachelor” season 28 contestant Maria Georgas commented, “A redo done right,” followed by the blazing fire emoji. Katie Thurston, star of season 17 of “The Bachelorette,” wrote, “THE CAPTION OF THE YEAR.”
Fans also commented on just how stunning Kirkconnell looked in all of her photos. “Icon always,” a comment read. “Love this for you,” another read. Others hoped that the former reality TV star would share her Tokyo itinerary.
Kirkconnell and James were known for sharing their love of travel and food on their respective social media accounts. It seems Kirkconnell is continuing that tradition, this time with friends and family by her side.
