Prince George is now officially a student at Eton College.
The 13-year-old son of the Prince and Princess of Wales arrived for his first day on Tuesday, September 8, following in his father’s footsteps at the prestigious all-boys boarding school.
The young prince was accompanied by Prince William and Catherine on the rainy morning, with the pair looking every bit the proud parents.

The royals also made small talk about the bad weather before disappearing inside the historic school.
Prince George Wants to Follow In Prince William’s Footsteps
Prince George may be starting his first full-time boarding experience at Eton, but he is no stranger to sleeping away from home for school. Prince William previously shared that his son had already begun some boarding at Lambrook, per PEOPLE.
Prince George attended Lambrook School alongside his younger siblings, Princess Charlotte, 11, and Prince Louis, 8, since 2022.
Despite being in boarding school, Prince George won’t be far from home. Eton is located near Windsor, where the Prince and Princess of Wales moved with their children in 2022.
GettyKensington Palace confirmed on June 16 that Prince George will attend Eton College. While many expected Prince William and Catherine to choose a more modern educational path for their son, they ultimately selected the school that helped shape the future king.
“Eton was a much-needed haven for William,” royal biographer Sally Bedell Smith told PEOPLE. “It will give George a rigorous education that he will need for his role.”
Ahead of his 10th birthday in 2023, Prince George toured Eton with his parents. The young royal ultimately decided it was the right school for him.
“George has always wanted to follow in his dad’s footsteps,” the source added.
Other Royals Who Attended Eton College Before Prince George

Prince Edward, Duke of Kent: The Duke of Kent, Queen Elizabeth II’s first cousin, attended Eton after studying at Ludgrove before continuing his education at Le Rosey in Switzerland and Sandhurst.
Prince Michael of Kent: Prince Michael of Kent, another first cousin of the late Queen, attended Eton before beginning military training at Sandhurst. He is also a qualified Russian interpreter and runs his own consultancy firm.
Prince Richard, Duke of Gloucester: Prince Richard, the Duke of Gloucester and a first cousin of Queen Elizabeth II, attended Eton before studying architecture at Cambridge.
Samuel David Benedict Chatto and Arthur Robert Nathaniel Chatto: Princess Margaret’s daughter, Lady Sarah Chatto, and her husband, Daniel Chatto, have two sons: Samuel and Arthur. Both attended Eton in 2000 and 2010, with Samuel now working as a sculptor and Arthur having served in the Royal Marines.
Charles Patrick Inigo Armstrong-Jones: Princess Margaret’s son, David Armstrong-Jones, 2nd Earl of Snowdon, shares two children with his former wife, Serena Alleyne Stanhope: Charles Armstrong-Jones and Lady Margarita Armstrong-Jones. Charles attended Eton alongside his cousins before studying production design engineering at Loughborough University.
