Actress and model Brooke Shields has shared a nostalgic photograph from her teenage years to celebrate National School Picture Day.
National School Picture Day always falls on the second Thursday in September and, this year, was on Thursday, September 10. Per Days of the Year, the event “is a vibrant celebration marking the milestone of the new school year. Kids across the United States and Canada dress up, smile wide, and create lasting memories captured by professional photographers.”
Shields, 61, went through her high school years as an already-famous star. Born in 1965, her modeling career began before she turned one, and she gained notoriety as an adolescent for her leading role in Louis Malle’s controversial 1978 historical drama movie “Pretty Baby.”
Now, she is most famous for appearing in the likes of 1980’s “The Blue Lagoon,” recurring roles in “Friends” and Disney’s “Hannah Montana,” Hallmark’s “The Flower Shop Mysteries,” and the Lifetime movies “What Makes a Family” and “I Can Make You Love Me.”
The beautiful Shields — who attended Dwight-Englewood School in Englewood, New Jersey (per the school’s official website) — took to social media to share her high school picture for National School Picture Day yesterday.
Brooke Shields’ School Picture Is Predictably Enviable
Brooke Shields shared her school picture with the 2.8 million followers on her Instagram account.
The post includes a single black-and-white picture of Shields, who looks to be around 17 years old in the image. Needless to say, while many of us look back at our school photographs with dread and a high amount of cringe, Shields has no such problems. She looks typically flawless, with wavy 1980s hair and a pretty smile. It really is highly enviable.
Her caption on the post reads, “Heard it’s #NationalSchoolPictureDay 😜 How are we doing in this back to school season?!”
The Eurythmics 1983 record “Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This)” plays over the post, which may hint at which year the photograph is from.

While it was lovely to get an insight into Brooke Shields’ school years, courtesy of her throwback photograph, it did indeed cause many of us to make unfair comparisons. So, if you’re look at the star’s picture and comparing it to yours, don’t! It’s Brooke Shields, for heaven’s sake!
