Sofia Vergara Shares Son Manolo’s Rare Childhood Photo on His Birthday

America’s Got Talent” judge Sofia Vergara is celebrating her son Manolo Gonzalez Vergara in the sweetest way. The “Modern Family” star, 53, marked her only child’s special day with a heartfelt birthday tribute on Instagram.

In an interview on “Regis & Kelly” in 2010 (as reported by People), Vergara revealed that she named Manolo after a character in the film “Scarface”.

“I looooved that movie, and I was in looove with Steven Bauer,” she later told Vogue in 2013. “Then my son, when he grew up, he was like, ‘Oh yeah, Mom, how amazing you named me after a drug-dealer junkie!’ And I was like, ‘Shut up, Manolo.’ “

Sofia Vergara Reflects on Raising Manolo With Pride

Vergara couldn’t be prouder of her 32-year-old son, Manolo. When the “America’s Got Talent” judge appeared on “The Kelly Clarkson Show” on January 23, she opened up about her journey as a single mom and the joy of watching Manolo grow into the man he is today.

“I am so proud that he turned out amazing and super hard-working. He wants to do things in life; he’s excited about life. I think that’s what all mothers wish for,” Vergara told host Kelly Clarkson. “[He’s] kind to other people. I don’t have anything bad to say about my son.”

During the episode, Vergara also shared sweet throwback photos of Manolo, including one of him as a child dressed in a fuzzy bear costume and another of the two enjoying a day at the beach in Colombia when he was a toddler.

Vergara has always taken pride in her role as a proud mom.

The “Griselda” star welcomed her son, Manolo Gonzalez Vergara, in Colombia in 1991 when she was just 18 years old and married to her high school sweetheart, Joe Gonzalez. The couple split two years later, but Vergara has often said motherhood shaped her life in profound ways.

“It’s an experience that’s unique. It changes you, and it’s very rewarding and gives you a lot of headaches too,” Vergara told People magazine in May 2024 about becoming a young mom.

Today, Manolo and Vergara share more than just a close bond — they are also business partners. The duo co-produces the show “Celebrity Family Food Battle” and co-founded Toma, a Latin culinary brand showcasing their heritage through food.

From the inspiration behind his name to his red carpet moments with his mom, Manolo has been at Vergara’s side through every chapter of her career.
