On April 21, singer and former “American Idol” mentor Josh Groban announced on Instagram that he had proposed to his girlfriend, English stage singer Natalie McQueen, at the “Happiest Place on Earth,” Disneyland. “MY BEST FRIEND SAID YES!!!”He shared in his caption, along with photos of the couple kissing in front of Snow White’s well, adorned with beautiful flowers, and McQueen’s stunning ring.
In a new interview, Groban shared more details about planning his surprise engagement, sharing why he chose Disneyland as the location and how the team at Disney went the extra mile to ensure that his proposal would be a memory both would cherish forever.
Josh Groban Opens up About Proposing to Natalie McQueen at Disneyland
GettyIn a new interview with Etalk, released on April 27, Josh Groban shared new details about his Disneyland engagement to Natalie McQueen, whom he had been dating since late 2022.
Groban admitted that while he was planning on asking McQueen to be his wife, the theme park wasn’t on his vision board. But, because he had to do some work and “content shooting” there, he realized that it was the perfect “excuse” to bring the entire family.
It was then that the “American Idol” season 23 mentor shared that he phoned some friends who worked at the park and asked if they could find a special location for Groban to get down on one knee.
“I brought my brother, my sister-in-law, my 2 -year-old nephew. We had a great day, and I called a couple friends there, and I said, ‘Hey, this is going to be a really special day for us anyway. Is there a spot that’s maybe private, kind of special, that I could maybe pop the question?’ And they said, ‘Truly, leave it with us.'” He said.
The team at Disneyland chose Snow White’s well as the best and most romantic location, adding flowers “all around” to make it even more special.
“The park is quiet, like everybody had gone home. The park closed early. Not for us, but it closed early anyway. And they just set it up so beautifully for us,” Groban said, adding, “And so, because we’d had such a big day, she wasn’t expecting it. So, it was just a nice surprise. Big ups to Disney, they really hooked me up.”
He continued, “You can only plan so much, and then you just kind of say, ‘Okay, I’m just going to make a decision here. I’m going to decide we’re going to do it now.’ And then things just fall into place.”
Groban & McQueen Made Their Relationship Instagram Official on Valentine’s Day 2023
GettyAccording to People, Groban and McQueen have been dating since about September 2022, when McQueen teased their romance on Instagram. She shared a photo of the two on a trip to Italy. “Do you know you’re Italian?” – boyfriend to a little tree lizard,” she captioned the image.
The couple went Instagram official on Valentine’s Day in 2023, sharing the same photo in bed. “Happy Valentine’s Day to the greatest ever. You make me the happiest ❤️,” her caption read. Groban’s caption for their cute photo read, “Happy Valentine’s Day to this remarkable woman who makes me so gosh dang stupid happy.”
Though Groban didn’t initially decide to propose to McQueen in Disneyland, it ultimately proved to be the perfect choice, especially given their earlier trip to Disney World in Florida in 2023, which also marked Groban’s very first visit.
Sharing photos on Instagram of how they spent their time at Disney World, including going on rides and kissing in front of Cinderella’s castle, Groban captioned his post, “Epic week with my love experiencing my first ever (!!!) trip to Disney World Florida! We rode rides and drank green beer and experienced a Disney Halloween in 92 degree September heat!! So fun!! 🐭
