Luke Bryan and Jason Aldean have shared a close friendship for nearly two decades. Raised in Georgia and breaking into country music around the same time, the two stars have spent years touring together, celebrating each other’s successes, and also watching each other’s families grow along the way.
So it’s no surprise that the “American Idol” judge shared a hilarious story involving Aldean and his mom, LeClaire Bryan, proving their bond goes beyond music.
Luke Bryan Shares Funny Story About Jason Aldean & His Mom
GettyAccording to Luke Bryan, his longtime friendship with Jason Aldean has also led to Aldean becoming close with his family, including his mom, LeClaire Bryan. During an interview with Taste of Country Nights, Bryan hilariously revealed that Aldean used to smoke cigarettes with his mother.
“I love [Luke’s] mom to death. She is awesome. One of the best. A good time. I actually like her more than I like Luke, I think,” Aldean first shared.
“My mother cusses at Jason from time to time. They used to share cigarettes, but they don’t do that anymore because Jason’s a quitter — he quit cigarettes. He didn’t like my mother’s menthols anyway,” Bryan then joked.
Bryan and Aldean’s friendship spans nearly 20 years, with both men stating in their interview that they first learned of one another after performing at the same music venues across Georgia. They finally met at a radio station in Knoxville, Tennessee. Aldean later shared that they formed a close friendship after asking Bryan to headline for him.
“He went out with me in 2010, opened some shows, and really, that was kind of the year that we really kind of bonded and hit it off,” Aldean said.
Bryan & Aldean Recently Released Their Duet ‘Songs About Us’
Bryan and Aldean recently teamed up on Aldean’s latest single, “Songs About Us,” which is featured on his newly released 12th studio album of the same name.
Aldean opened up about recording it with Bryan, sharing with his label (via Country Now), “’Songs About Us,’ this is a duet I did with Luke, and one I’m really excited about. And this is just, to me, one of those songs, Luke and I are kinda from the same part of the world, grew up with a lot of the same influences of music and playing a lot of the same clubs with these songs that were soundtracks to our lives. You know, we felt like they were singing these songs about us. They were songs that we could relate to,” he said.
He continued, “And over the last 20 years, I think Luke and I, our songs have probably been the soundtrack for some other kids’ lives over the years. And so, he was the one that just kind of made sense for me to pull him on and be a part of this one. Really cool song that I think is gonna be one of the highlights of the record, which is why we named the album that.”
The two reunited in Georgia for a massive sold-out show at Sanford Stadium on April 25, performing their biggest hits in front of more than 63,000 fans. They’ve since announced additional tour dates for their “Double Down Tour 2026,” which kicks off in August.
