Lala Kent Reveals ‘Rare’ Medical Emergency Involving a Hazmat Suit

Lala Kent opened up on her iHeart “Untraditionally Lala” podcast on Wednesday, Jan. 14, about the “rare” medical emergency she experienced while on vacation in Hawaii.

Since she has since healed from the condition, the “Vanderpump Rules” alum spoke with a humorous animation when detailing the story. “You guys, OMG, I have to tell you guys a story,” she said. “So I wake up one morning, and I look at my body, and there’s like what looks to be little bites, and it starts on my chest and on my back.”

Lala Kent was treated by a medical professional who had to wear a hazmat suit.

Kent continued, “And I’m like, this is freaking weird. I thought that maybe I brought like a sand mite home from Hawaii,” adding that the initial appearance of her skin was “gnarly.”

The 35-year-old explained how within a short period of time, the bites started to become “bigger” and “weird,” noting that they also became “itchy.”

“I’m going to call it what it is: boils. They were [expletive] boils. Yeah, disgusting,” she said before joking that what came next turned her into “patient zero.”

Kent said that when a medical professional looked at her mysterious bites, they entered the room wearing a “hazmat suit.”

Fortunately, medical testing revealed that Kent didn’t have a bacterial or staph infection, nor chickenpox or monkeypox. “Biopsy comes back, and it’s most consistent with what looked like a rare reaction to a bug bite,” she said.

Although the mom of two was in the clear of a serious medical diagnosis, Kent expressed how she was worried that her skin would scar, especially after itching the bites.

“They put me on a steroid, two steroid creams, an antibiotic, and a steroid oral,” she said of how medical officials treated her skin to prevent further damage.

Kent lucked out in mid-2025 as well when she noticed an abnormality in her eye. She shared on her Instagram in May of that year that when she went to a specialist, they treated her with chemotherapy drops for 3 months after finding that what she was experiencing was precancerous.

Several months later, in August, Kent updated fans on her Instagram Story about how doctors told her they were “thrilled” by the improvement in her eye, as reported by Bravo.
