Following news of Dolly Parton’s passing, many fans found numerous different ways to pay tribute to the legendary country singer, which included playing some of her hit songs.
And with that, it led to her single “Jolene” jumping to the No. 1 spot on Apple Music’s U.S. songs chart. Parton first released the song in October 1973, and it has become one of her most iconic and well-known songs.
The singer died on Tuesday, Aug. 25, with her representatives confirming that it came after a brief battle with cancer. She also had ongoing health struggles, including kidney and autoimmune issues. Parton was hospitalized on Friday before he passing, with her family and friends saying it was sudden.

Parton’s song “Jolene” has been covered by numerous different artists, including Miley Cyrus, who has sung the song with the country music singer numerous times over the years.
One of their first onstage duets was for the 2010 Hallmark special “Dolly Celebrates 25 Years of Dollywood,” when they performed Parton’s 1973 track “Jolene” together. They also performed the classic song during an appearance on “The Voice” in 2016 and again at the 2019 Grammy Awards.
Miley and Parton shared an unbreakable bond, with Parton becoming her godmother in 1992 when she was born.
Billy Ray Cyrus Pays Tribute To Dolly Parton
Following news of Parton’s passing, Billy Ray Cyrus posted a heartfelt tribute, sharing it alongside a photo of himself, Parton, and his daughter, Miley.
“I have so many moments and memories with Dolly, it’s hard to know where to start. Like every little boy, I grew up loving Dolly Parton. She was a part of our lives, on our TV’s, right in our living rooms,” he wrote. “In 1992, I’ll never forget walking into her dressing room to apologize for all the tabloid stories which claimed I was having an affair with her. In true Dolly fashion, she just looked at me, winked and said, ‘Honey, this trash sells records!'”
“Dolly recently sent me a beautiful message, telling me she loved me with her whole heart. I will always love her in the same way ….. with my whole heart … and I always will,” he concluded.
Parton made numerous appearances alongside Billy Ray and Miley, specifically when the two starred on Hannah Montana. Other members of the popular Disney show also posted heartfelt messages.
“Of all the people I’ve had the chance to meet, Dolly will always be my favorite. She managed to spread more joy and love with a giggle and a joke than most will in a lifetime. We will always love you ‘Aunt Dolly,'” Jason Earles, who played Billy Ray’s so and Miley’s brother on the show posted.
“Rest in peace to the Queen, Dolly Parton. Such a sweet and special soul who exuded positivity, warmth, and joy. May her incredible legacy live on for generations to come. I’m honored and grateful to have had the opportunity to work with her,” Cody Linley, who played Jake Ryan, wrote.
“Dolly, there will never be anyone else like you. I am gutted to hear the news. The world will forever be indebted to the good you’ve done and the legacy you’ve left. The equilibrium of the earth feels off. Thank you for everything,” Brooke Shields, who played Miley and Jackson’s late mother shared.
“It’s hard to imagine a world without Dolly. This is so sad. What a sweetheart. I feel so lucky to have met her on Miley’s show. Can’t hardly call it work… special memory, incredibly special person,” Vicki Lawrence, who played Mamaw Ruthie Stewart, said.
