O’Hara’s Impressive Career
O’Hara’s career spanned more than five decades, defined by her rare ability to blend sharp comedy with genuine emotional depth.
She first rose to prominence in the late 1970s as a cast member of SCTV, where her fearless sketch work and chameleon-like performances earned her early acclaim and set the tone for a career built on versatility.
Her collaborations with Eugene Levy became especially iconic, forming one of comedy’s most enduring partnerships.
In film, O’Hara became a household name through beloved roles in classics like “Beetlejuice,” “Home Alone,” “Home Alone 2,” and “The Nightmare Before Christmas,” where her voice work as Sally showcased a quieter, more poignant side of her talent.
She effortlessly moved between broad comedy and heartfelt performances, making even eccentric characters feel grounded and real.
Later in her career, O’Hara experienced a major resurgence with “Schitt’s Creek,” portraying the unforgettable Moira Rose.
The role earned her an Emmy and introduced her to a new generation of fans, cementing her status as a cultural icon. Beyond live action, her extensive voice work in animated films further highlighted her range.
She most recently was receiving praise for her role in Apple’s series “The Studio,” as filming for the second season had just recently began.
